Coding in early childhood doesn't look like coding for adults........ and it shouldn't. 💜

For young children, coding can look like programming a puppy to find its doghouse, giving a robot a sequence of directions, predicting what will happen next, realizing it didn't work, and excitedly trying again.

Through play, children are building early computational thinking, sequencing, spatial awareness, problem-solving, persistence, communication and critical-thinking skills.

But meaningful learning doesn't happen simply because we put educational technology in a classroom. It takes intentional educators.
Teachers turn a toy into a learning experience by asking questions, encouraging predictions, allowing children to make mistakes, introducing new vocabulary and knowing when to help...... and when to let a child wrestle with a problem a little longer.

At BOF, we don't believe early learning should mean pushing children into academics before they're ready. We believe in bringing meaningful concepts to children in ways that are developmentally appropriate: through curiosity, exploration and PLAY.

Because sometimes preparing children for the future looks a whole lot like helping a little robot puppy find its way home. 🐾🤖💜

Brighten Our Future ELC is excited to be part of this statewide effort bringing together organizations across Nebraska to advocate for stronger child care systems, sustainable solutions for providers, and greater access for families.

We believe meaningful change happens when those doing the work have a voice in shaping the future. We’re proud to bring the perspective of a small, community-based provider to the table as we work toward a stronger future for Nebraska’s children, families, and early childhood workforce.

Child Care Can is a statewide, multi-year campaign to strengthen Nebraska through public investment in affordable, quality child care. The campaign is grounded in a simple belief: The quality of care we provide to children, and to the people who care for them, will help determine Nebraska’s competitiveness and future.

Child Care Can is working to build public understanding and support for practical policy solutions that increase access to affordable, quality child care across Nebraska.

Some people teach information while others ignite imagination.

When learning becomes an experience, curiosity takes over. Questions replace hesitation and confidence begins to grow. Those moments can shape a child's future in ways we'll never fully measure.

Thank you Stomp Chomp Roar for always bringing energy, passion, and joy into children's lives. You may think you're just giving a presentation, but you're creating memories, inspiring dreams, and reminding kids that learning is an adventure.

Community is about connection, resources, and showing up for one another, even when it’s nearly 100 degrees outside! 🥵☀️💜

We had such a wonderful (and HOT 😂) time today hosting a resource table at Mandela Fest! It was an opportunity to connect with families, share resources, and be part of an event that celebrates and strengthens our community.

One of the highlights (and my favorite part) of our day was seeing just how many kids AND parents stopped by to take on our Genius Square Challenge! 🧩🧠 Despite the heat, there was no shortage of problem-solving, determination, friendly competition, and fun at our table!

It was a great reminder that learning happens everywhere, and sometimes the best way to engage children is to sit down, play alongside them, and challenge yourself too.

At Brighten Our Future ELC, we're proud to be more than an early learning center. We believe in showing up, building connections, sharing resources, and being an active part of the community we serve.

Mae Among the Stars is an inspiring children's book inspired by astronaut Mae Jemison, the first Black woman in space. It encourages kids to dream big, work hard, and that the most ambitious dreams are achievable.

We cannot say enough positive things about the educational and hands-on STEM experience offered by Challenge Island Omaha Northwest !
