Life is so good!
It’s so easy!
It’s so fun!
That’s what I believe!
Do you agree? Or did you think maybe I was annoying? A Pollyanna? Or just that I am so lucky?!
What do you believe about life? Take a minute.
Why does this even matter? If I think that life is easy or life is hard - does that change anything?
I say it changes everything! Because I believe life is easy - I’m filled with joy and things are always easier when you enjoy them! And you do a lot more things because they are fun!
Am I just lying to myself? Am I just being positive about something that is negative?
What makes something hard or easy?
If something just IS hard then could prove it in a court of law - it would just be a fact.
But everyone has different thoughts about what is hard and what is easy.
So the only thing that makes something hard or easy is your own thoughts about it!
I say there is absolutely no upside to thinking things are hard. NONE!!!
So choose easy! I give you permission! There is no thought police - there is no one that will come into your brain and say you have to stop thinking that!
You have the complete freedom to think whatever you want! You can stop thinking life is hard and start thinking something else right now! All it takes is a decision, friend! You got this!

The way I like to set goals: (and it’s not the SMART way!)
Do you have a big goal?
Do you know how to achieve it?
If you do, it might not be big enough.
If you don’t, does thinking about this goal scare you just a little?
They should be just a little past what you think is possible so that you have to stretch a little out of that comfort zone but not too far that you are just doing everything from a place of fear and willpower!
That’s the perfect spot where you grow. The spot where you actually make progress.
Too small of a goal is like stepping across a little stream. You would have made that same step regardless if that stream was there or not - it didn’t make you stretch and grow. Ho hum - boring.
Too big of a goal is like trying to cross a raging river. It’s too daunting to even try!
But just right is like a stream where there are some rocks in the stream and to get across it will take a few little jumps - a few little risks - to make it! There might be a few spots where it looks a little questionable but we want to try and see!
Sounds more fun, right?
So ask yourself these questions when you are setting your next goal: is this just a little beyond what I know I can do? Does it scare me a little? Then watch to see how much faster you hit those goals!

Isn’t changing your thoughts just lying to yourself?
I love this question!
One of the key elements in thinking a new thought is that you have to already believe it!
You can’t go from “I struggle with _____(fill in the blank!)” to “I’m amazing at _____!”
I mean you could - you just wouldn’t get very far! You wouldn’t change much!
Now the question that this person is asking is that if I believe that I struggle with this thing than anything else I tell myself would be a lie, right? Or denying the truth?
But here’s the thing - there are literally an unlimited number of thoughts you could have about this thing and the one you pick makes you feel awful! And when you feel awful - you don’t do all the things you could do to get better at this thing!
So isn’t it also true that you are learning how to get better at ______? Or that it’s possible you will figure out how to _____?
These thoughts aren’t lies - they are probably just as true for you, right?
But when you think these true statements - you feel better! Hopeful! And you get to work!
So you need to ask yourself - which true statement do you want to think? Which true statement gets you closer to your goal?

This is one of my strongest beliefs.
Usually we can all get there. Down the road - after lots of time has passed - maybe after lots of tears and conversations and prayer. Then we can look back and think we’re ok now.
We look back and think “That was hard but I learned some awesome things about myself” or “I grew so much as a person going through all that” or “I know because I survived that I can do anything.”
And now thinking back to that thing, we feel a little empowered, stronger, wiser.
At some point we changed our thought from “My life is over!’ to “I’m going to be ok - better than ok!”
At some point we changed our emotions from devastation to empowered!
And I figure if at some point we’ll be able to think new thoughts, why not think it now? I know everything will settle down at some point so why not feel that peace and empowerment now?
We can.
When something happens in our lives, imagine thinking “Everything is OK - I’ve got this - not sure how yet but I trust that I will figure all this out in the best way possible - that’s just what I do!” Repeat those thoughts. How do you feel thinking them? Try them the next time you catch yourself thinking everything is GOING to be ok!
Remember all IS ok because no matter what - we’re ok. Start training your brain to respond with these kinds of thoughts and just watch! You become that empowered, stronger and wiser person now. Think of the time and energy saved!
Let these become some of your strongest beliefs, too! You got this friend!
