Facebook is convenient for reaching a lot of people that enjoy our programs and for artists who take part in those programs. Unfortunately there is no alternative non-Meta owned format that reaches as many people as we can via Facebook. A strong upside of the platform.

Facebook also tolerates scams from people posing as staff from organizations like the House of Welcome. Even when reported, Facebook says it doesn't violate their community standards for scammers and fraudsters to post on behalf of organizations seeking to enrich themselves by telling people that it has something they may want, such as a table at one of our Native art markets. We spend time blocking posts from unsavory types that try to get your money for something that doesn't exist. Facebook can't be bothered.

We will never confirm a table for artists or vendors on Facebook. It will always be via e-mail. Why e-mail? Then we have a written record of the request and response.
