Before students returned to classrooms, some of our newest OSD paraeducators came together for orientation to prepare for the new school year!

The day was an opportunity to connect with fellow paraeducators, meet district and association leadership, learn more about their roles and responsibilities, ask questions and get ready to support students and staff across our schools.

Paraeducators are a vital part of our school communities, working alongside teachers and staff each day to help students learn, grow and succeed.

🎒✏️ What a great first day!

Today we welcomed back our 1st through 12th grade students, and our schools were full of all the things that make the first day so special: smiling faces, hugs, fist bumps, sharpened pencils, new lockers, reunions with friends and plenty of back-to-school excitement!

We stopped by Lincoln Elementary, Roosevelt Elementary and Reeves Middle School to catch a little of the first-day fun. 📸

Avanti High School has spots available for Fall 2026.

Avanti offers a small, personalized learning environment where students can explore their interests, build meaningful relationships and demonstrate their learning through projects and exhibitions.

With a flexible half-day schedule Monday through Thursday, students can also pursue opportunities such as Running Start, New Market Skills Center, internships and other interests.

🥪🍎 Olympia School District families are encouraged to complete a Free & Reduced-Price Meal Application for the 2026-27 school year.

Applying for meal benefits can provide more than breakfast and lunch. Qualifying may also help your student access additional benefits and reduced or waived fees.

Families can apply online through Skyward Qmlativ Family Access by selecting Food Service Applications → Start a New Application. You only need to complete one application per household.

Paper applications are also available at school front offices.

Conducted in partnership with the City of Olympia, Child Care Action Council and South Sound Parent to Parent, the assessment gathered feedback to better understand child care needs and capacity in the Olympia community.

Capital High School’s gymnasium is sporting a fresh new look just in time for the new school year. The floor has been refinished with a new finish, stain and game lines, creating a bold new space for our Cougars to compete, perform and show their school spirit.

Thank you to Western Hardwood for their work bringing the new design to life.
