Great reflection as we start a new year. Shared from a friend…

Possibly the most important thing you'll read this year...

The following is the philosophy of Charles Schulz, the creator of the 'Peanuts' comic strip.

You don't have to actually answer the questions. Just ponder on them. Just read it straight through, and you'll get the point.

1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.

2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.

3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America pageant.

4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.

5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress.

6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners.

How did you do?

The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday.

These are no second-rate achievers.

They are the best in their fields.

But the applause dies.

Awards tarnish ...

Achievements are forgotten.

Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.

Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:

1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.

2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.

3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.

4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.

5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.

Easier?

The lesson:

The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money ... or the most awards. They simply are the ones who care the most. ❤️

Singing to babies is vital to help them understand language, say scientists 12/02/2023

And babies don’t care if you sing out of tune. 🎶 What are (or were) your favorite songs to sing?

My mom often sang “You are my Sunshine” to me and was a favorite of mine to sing to my babies. ☀️

Quick reminder for the parents out there: There are 1,440 minutes in a day. It's okay to take 5 minutes to sit, breathe, and appreciate the moment! Too often we spend all our time caring for others and forget to take care of ourselves. What small thing will you do to fill your cup today?

As I reflect on all the graduation events - and feelings, BIG feelings - I realized that when I stayed focused on the present, my heart was filled with the joy and excitement this milestone brings.

It's when I started thinking about how fast time has passed and how the future will look different that the other emotions, like grief and uncertainty, crept in. I think it's important to take time to honor ALL the emotions while also staying grounded in the present so we don't miss these special moments.

The good news is that I wasn't a blubbering mess at the graduation ceremony like I thought I might be. 😭 Just a few tears when the first notes of Pomp and Circumstance started playing. 🎶 What helps you stay in the present moment? What helps you move through big emotions?

It's graduation day for us! Fellow parents of grads, I know it's hard to believe, but our babies are all grown up and ready to take on the world! As you watch them embark on their next journey, take a moment to reflect on all the amazing qualities you've instilled in them. Your hopes and dreams for their future (and your hard work and sleepless nights) have helped shape the incredible person they are today, and the sky's the limit for what they can achieve. So sit back, relax, and enjoy each moment as you watch your child achieve their dreams - you've done an amazing job guiding them this far!

Fun fact... I might be the founder of Family Vitality, but my dog, Rufus, thinks he is the CEO. He is constantly by my side or at my feet supervising everything. Do you have furry friends for co-workers, too? I’d love to “meet” them!

Isn’t life an adventure? If someone had told me when I graduated from pharmacy school that I’d eventually be doing parent coaching and running my own business, I certainly wouldn’t have believed it. Sometimes our path takes interesting turns. It’s great to know that reality can be even better than what we imagine. Could you have predicted where you’d end up today?

Want a sneak peek into where the magic happens? 🔮 It’s often at my dining room table, where I spend my days (and sometimes evenings) providing parents tools to find more ease and joy in their parenting. It’s also here that I watch for my two teenagers to come home from their daily ventures and reminisce about how fast they have grown! In the comments below, tell me what else you'd like to know about life at Family Vitality. 👇👇👇
