We would like to take this opportunity to welcome the new Principal of Reeves Middle School. Welcome to Mr. Geoff Parks.
Here's what Mr. Parks had to say:
"My name is Geoff Parks and it is with great pleasure that I have been selected as the next Principal of Reeves Middle School. The former Principal, Mr. Aaron Davis, has taken the role as the Human Resources Director in the Olympia School District. Mr. Davis has done an incredible job in his tenure at Reeves Middle School and he has definitely left huge shoes to fill. I am extremely fortunate to be selected to work at this amazing school and work with this amazing community.
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. In my life, I have had great opportunities to experience education through many different lenses. I was born, raised, and taught in the very close-knit community of Willapa Valley in Menlo, Washington. This community allowed me to see first hand the value of commitment, communication, and teamwork to provide an atmosphere that promotes success for all students. I have also had the pleasure to teach and lead education in a large sized school district near Tucson, Arizona. This opportunity provided me the luxury of developing strategies and systems to address the needs of a diverse population. Recently, I have had the amazing opportunity to work as an Assistant Principal at Olympia High School. My time there has allowed me to immerse myself in the Olympia community and implement the tenants of pride, courage, and tradition. My experiences in both Washington and Arizona have led me to believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It is my goal as an educator to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas. I believe that great leadership starts with a willing heart, a positive attitude, and a desire to make a difference. I also believe that a true educational leader must be deeply rooted in service to the school and community while consistently improving learning opportunities for each learner. In order to effectively educate the whole child, education must be a community effort built on a collaborative partnership among the families, teachers, students, and administration. I am truly looking forward at the opportunity to build a strong alliance between the school and the home to create an amazing experience for your student.
We will create an opportunity for a "meet and greet" meeting with the PTA for you to speak with me in person. This date has not been established yet, but it will be in early August. Please look for another announcement to see the specific date and time.
Thank you for your time and we will have a great year together.
