🎒✨ BIG NEWS FOR HANSEN FAMILIES! ✨🎒

We’re thrilled to share some amazing news for the 2026–2027 school year! 🦅💚💛

Thanks to the incredible generosity of PEAK Credit Union and the support of our Hansen Community Council, nearly all classroom school supplies will be provided for EVERY Hansen student this year! 🙌

That means families only need to plan for:
🎒 Backpack
🥪 Lunchbox/water bottle
🧻 Baby wipes
🤧 Kleenex
🧴 Hand sanitizer (optional)

That’s it! All other classroom supplies will be provided for students. ❤️

We are so grateful to PEAK Credit Union for helping make this possible and to our Hansen Community Council for making sure our students and families are supported.

☀️ Stay Cool, Hansen Community! ☀️

It’s going to be HOT today, so please take care of yourselves, your kiddos, and your neighbors. Drink plenty of water, limit time outside during the hottest part of the day, wear lightweight clothing, and never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle.

If your family needs a safe place to get out of the heat, Family Support Center’s Pear Blossom Place will have its Hazardous Weather Drop-In Shelter OPEN tonight!

🏠 Indoor camping-style shelter
👨‍👩‍👧 Open to children, pregnant individuals, and their families
❤️ Children must be present
🤰 Proof of pregnancy is not required

Hours: 5:00 PM to 10:00 AM
Location: 837 7th Ave SE, Olympia, WA 98501

Sergio’s Place will extend its operating hours for Tuesday, July 21 & Wednesday, July 22, due to expected high temperatures, which are dangerous for those without shelter. See news release for more information: https://www.thurstoncountywa.gov/news/hazardous-weather-advisory-july-21-and-22

The Thurston County Food Bank will be expanding evening service hours to a second Wednesday evening each month beginning Wednesday, July 22, 2026. More information in comments.

Future Friday was such a fun day at Hansen Elementary! We loved seeing our Hansen Hawks dreaming big and exploring all the possibilities for their futures.

🍎☀️ Free Summer Lunches Are Back!

Olympia School District is offering free lunches for all children and teens 18 years old and younger this summer.

June 22 – August 14, 2026
Monday–Friday, 12:00–12:30 p.m.

📍 Garfield Elementary School
325 Plymouth St. NW, Olympia

Each meal includes a warm lunch, fruit and vegetable bar, and cold milk. No registration is required.

Please note: Lunch will not be served on Friday, July 3.

Help us spread the word so local children and families can take advantage of this free summer meal program. 🌞 🍽️

Can you believe it’s already almost the middle of July?

Join the Hansen Community Council (HCC) and our Hansen community for a Picnic in the Park at Decatur Woods Park!

Pack your favorite picnic lunch, bring the whole family, and come enjoy a fun afternoon connecting with neighbors and friends. We’ll be providing Push Pops and Otter Pops to help everyone stay cool.
