Brussels sprouts, Chois, and Cardoncella barese escarole. I love this escarole! It’s got such long leaves for winter salads. Cold hardy and it can naturalize.

Yummy mustard greens. Love this color in the winter and the spicy is good and warming.

It’s weird how the grass looks pink. Check out these Chois. A great plant for the winter garden. 2 vegetables for the price of 1 since they have such nice stems and leaves.

Lacinato kale

This is a pepper that you treat like a houseplant and it will produce hot peppers all winter long inside your house. No lights needed!

Parsley prevents scurvy

Purple sprouting broccoli!

Cauliflowers! Purple cape for overwintering and snowball for the fall

4 different kinds of cabbage

Four different kinds of kale. They are getting big and need to find good homes

Apples are also in abundance. Please come out and visit the farm this weekend. 3947 113th ave sw, olympia, wa. Link in bio for nursery list.

Let’s make lactofermented dill pickles! Here’s how I do it. Join me for a hands on workshop on food preservation on Sunday September 6. We will talk about ways to put up your harvest including canning, fermentation, freezing, and dehydration. Visit the website for more information.

The nursery is open today (August 15) from 11 am - 3 pm. We will be closed tomorrow except for seedsaving workshop participants. There is still space available to join in the workshop. We will be open from 11 -3 next weekend. Time to capture the summer sunshine for nourishment in the cool season. Link in bio for nursery list and address.

Beautiful little semiunplanned assemblage of plants. I came over here to pick a salad and was marveling at how I could fill my bowl with plants that were not intentionally planted. By having a practice of saving seeds, I inadvertently drop seeds all the time. It’s wonderful to let the choice edibles overtake the weeds.

You can do this too! Join me on Sunday August 16 for a workshop on seedsaving at the farm. Everyone will go home with some seeds and most importantly, the skills to save seeds in your own garden this year. Link in bio to website for more info.
