Last week, we unveiled a new mural in our front office (right next to the Hall of Fame). With the support of a grant from the Olympia Historical Society, this creation was a true partnership. The mural is inspired by our visit to the Squaxin Museum and the work with local artist Joe Seymour (he designed and created the bears). After learning about the history and current presence of the Squaxin, our students were given a lesson on Coastal Art from our artist. Afterwards, a plan was designed to show representation and support for our local Native population. Art teacher Courtney Warnick led a group of students to paint most of this mural along with the guidance and support of our local artist Seymour. Students were also given the opportunity to paint a salmon (created by Seymour) with their own individual flair. Check it out next time you are at OHS!

A gigantic THANK YOU to our neighbors over at Humble Cow Ice Cream. The team graciously opened the shop early for our SOPE (Success-Oriented PE) class, and the class final was a walk to Humble Cow for a sweet treat! As if that wasn't sweet enough, they also provided a very generous discount. Thank you so much, Humble Cow! 🍦🐻
Congrats to a wonderful class!!

Round of applause for Cyrus and Kasen! These two OHS/New Market Skills Center students are currently competing at the national level in the SkillsUSA Competition!
In case you aren't familiar, SkillsUSA is the national culmination of a year-long process that begins with local SkillsUSA chapters across the country.
Along with gold, silver, and bronze medallions, competitors may earn scholarships, tools of the trade, and even job offers right off the competition floor. They also earn the confidence that can only come when you know you're among the best of the best in what you do.
Congratulations, Cyrus and Kasen! We are so proud of you. GO BEARS! 🐻
