McLane Elementary teamed up with Walk N Roll, the McLane Black Lake Fire Department, and the Thurston County Sheriff to host their annual Walk N Roll to school event yesterday! Fire trucks and sheriff vehicles blocked a busy 4-way intersection as students and their families made their way from the fire department to school. Walking and rolling with friends, music, prizes, and safe intersection crossings is the best way to start a school day! As the school year comes to an end for many, the Walk N Roll team is busy planning more ways to make getting to school an active and joyful experience for the 2026-27 school year.

🌈🚲Celebrate Pride month with a roll through downtown Olympia’s q***r history! Join us June 26 at 3:00 p.m. for an easy paced Olympia Q***r History Bike Tour that brings to life the LGBT cultural creativity, joy, and activism that shaped downtown Olympia throughout the 1970s, 80s, and 90s.

Riders will gather at the Olympia Pride mural beside Heritage Fountain before rolling through downtown to visit landmark sites where q***r community thrived. At each stop, storytellers will share firsthand memories, reflections, and even songs that illuminate decades of resilience, organizing, and celebration.

This mostly flat ride follows city streets and is suitable for a wide range of riders. We’ll wrap up the tour at Capital City Pride’s Block Party where you can continue the celebration.
Come ride, learn, and honor Olympia’s q***r history with us.

🚲🌲 Avanti Bikes! and Envision Career Academy riders have been rolling strong this spring!
Students have been pedaling their way through an incredible season taking on longer and more challenging rides and steadily building the skills they need to become confident, independent cyclists. As they trained for an end‑of‑year bike‑camping trip, students explored gravel routes in Capitol Forest, practiced packing and carrying gear, and improved their roadside repair skills.

In May, 18 students completed a two‑day bike‑camping adventure, many carrying their own gear as they climbed steep gravel roads along the Skokomish River. For several students, it was their first time camping! 🌲✨

Huge thanks to our amazing WNR volunteers — Colleen, Larry, and Ingrid — along with supportive parents, teachers Nikki Winkley and Jenna Witman, and our generous community for loaning trailers, panniers, and other essential gear. You made this adventure possible! ❤️🚲
