This weekend the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Conservation Corps (VCC) program alumni joined forces with GRuB Olympia to build a new garden for a senior apartment complex!

This project was to replace aging garden beds at the apartment complex that were built by GRuB 20+ years ago. With numerous staff and volunteers, old beds were removed in record time and replaced with eight new garden beds, filled with fresh garden soil and sturdy trellises for growing vines.

Big smiles all around from the residents, who especially look forward to growing food this season in the new higher elevated beds meant to reduce bending and stooping for those that have mobility issues.

Thank you GRuB staff and VCC interns for all your hard work — happy growing, everyone! ðŸŠī 🍅 ðŸŦ›
