The Lunar New Year marks the beginning of a new year on the traditional Chinese calendar, following the lunar cycle rather than the Gregorian calendar.
Across China and in many communities around the world, Lunar New Year is a time for family reunions, honoring ancestors, and welcoming good fortune for the year ahead. Celebrations often include festive meals, red decorations symbolizing luck and prosperity, the giving of red envelopes (hongbao), and vibrant dragon and lion dances meant to bring blessings and ward off negative energy.
Ultimately, the holiday is about renewal and letting go of the past year and stepping forward with hope, intention, and joy for what’s to come. 🧧🔥🐴
