Our Staff Member of the Week is Olivia Metcalfe, soon to be Mrs. Olivia Moore! She is getting married this month, which makes this an extra exciting week to celebrate her. She is our music and art teacher, and she is absolutely amazing. We are so blessed to have hired her at Norwood Elementary School. It truly feels like she has been with us the whole time because she fits right in. She loves her students, and her students love her. We are so thankful to name her our Staff Member of the Week!

Norwood Elementary’s Employee Childcare Room has 3–4 spots that we are now able to officially open to the community!

This is a paid childcare program with a weekly fee. Start dates will depend on each child’s age as well as current staffing availability.

🎬 Calling all community partners, movie buffs, film lovers, storytellers, and creative minds!

Norwood Elementary is looking for a few more community partners for our Lights, Camera, Action! ELA & Social Studies Night on September 23 from 4:30–6:30 PM!

If you have experience or interests related to movies, film, photography, storytelling, journalism, history, media, writing, or another fun connection to ELA or Social Studies, we would LOVE to have you join us!

🧡🤍 College Colors Day at Norwood! 🤍🧡

Being in East Tennessee, we definitely saw A LOT of orange and white around the building! 🍊🏈 We love when it’s football time in Tennessee!

College Colors Day is also a fun opportunity to get our students thinking about their own futures. At Norwood, we want our Jaguars to know there are so many pathways available to them after high school, including college, career and technical education, trade and technical schools, and military service.

As a STEM school, we work throughout the year to connect what students are learning now to opportunities they may have in the future. We want to expose our students to different careers, help them discover their interests and strengths, and show them just how many possibilities are out there for them.

They have plenty of time to figure out where their own path will take them. For now, we’re going to keep learning, exploring, dreaming big, and having a lot of fun along the way! 🐆

And, of course… GO VOLS! 🧡🤍🏈

🧡🤍 Yesterday, our sweet 4th and 5th graders helped us pull off a huge surprise! 🤍🧡

We are so proud to celebrate Miss Gaddis and the incredible impact she continues to make at Norwood!

Being named one of Tennessee’s Top 27 Teacher of the Year candidates is an incredible accomplishment, but anyone who knows Bridgette knows that her impact can’t be measured by an award or a title.

She continues to pour into our school in so many ways. She continues to impress, earning another $5,000 robotics grant for our students, serving as an important part of our STEM team, continuing her own professional development, and finding new ways to make kids genuinely excited about reading and learning.

Bridgette’s greatest strength has always been the way she makes people feel. She has a gift for making students feel loved, seen, and appreciated. Kids know they are safe with her. They know she believes in them, and they know they have someone in their corner. When students are asked to describe Miss Gaddis, one word comes up again and again: kind. ❤️

That kind of impact lasts far beyond a school year.

Top 27 in Tennessee is something worth celebrating, and we could not be prouder of the way Bridgette represents Norwood. Miss Gaddis, keep doing what you do best by loving kids, believing in them, and making our school a better place because you are here.

Our Staff Member of the Week this week is Mrs. Lauren Clowers! Lauren is our third grade ELA teacher and our ELA lead for the entire school. She works incredibly hard not only to support the students in her classroom, but also to support the teachers around her. She is always willing to step in, help wherever needed, and even fill in as part of our leadership team when needed. We are so thankful for Lauren and her dedication to Norwood!

🌟🏅 We are thrilled to announce our latest “PE Beasts of the Month”! 🏅🌟

These students have demonstrated exceptional enthusiasm, dedication, and sportsmanship in our physical education program. They’ve embraced every challenge with a positive attitude, motivating their peers to give their best as well.

Whether it’s acing fitness tests, being a supportive teammate, or consistently showing up with a winning spirit, they have truly stood out this month. They’ve proven that hard work, determination, and a passion for physical fitness can lead to outstanding results.
