SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: LYRIC CONTARINO
We are doing a senior spotlight series honoring all of our seniors leading up to their senior night. The Northside Singers Senior Night will be Tuesday, May 24 at 7:00 pm.
Lyric is a spunky, outgoing, beautiful human being. She hasn’t been in choir long but has had passion for the arts for a long time. She is involved all over our campus. She is on the colorgaurd team, theatre, choir, musical and on the Yearbook staff. We are so proud of her.
She is attending Brevard College in the fall to pursue her musical theatre degree. She has almost a full ride. She is in the top four for a performing arts scholarship from Iredell County as well.
“To me choir has been one of the most important things in my life. When my choir involvement started I was in a deep dark place, the car accident had just happened and due to COVID and my injuries I couldn’t be involved with guard or musical, my true passions. Ever since junior year everyone in choir has made a huge impact on my life and overall the performing arts took the shy young girl I once was and turned me into a confident young woman. I saw through the eyes of sleep in marching band, witnessed the beach in choir and even brought imagination to life through W***y Wonka. Here at North is where my true passions grew, along with the love of the people that partake in all of the arts. There’s much more I could say, indescribable words and feelings that I could portray but could never be said about performing arts and my love for it ❤️ “I’m excited” said Little Red in Inti The Woods”
Decade Day at NIHS in honor of Yearbook Dedication this Friday! We are so excited to see what the YERDS have been up to this year!
The Northside Singers are collaborating with the NIHS Art Students and Fifth Street Ministries. I would like to tell you a little bit about Fifth Street.
"We’re a non-profit organization, founded to provide the basic needs of the homeless and working poor in our community. Our founders, Gary and Patti West, opened Diakonos in Burnsville, North Carolina in 1988, to provide the essentials — food, water, safety, freedom from domestic abuse and the opportunity to move toward self-reliance.
Today, our campus on Fifth Street in downtown Statesville, NC, sits in the middle of one of our poorest neighborhoods. The abandoned houses, overgrown lots and memorials to fallen gang members only hint at the troubles it sees.
We’re right where we need to be, in the midst of the people who need our help the most. Our campus welcomes those who need caring, sharing and compassion."

Attached Below is all the information you need on what Fifth Street is needing.
If you are unable to attend the event but would still like to donate please reach out to me or bring your items to the front office of NIHS. We hope you can attend.
