On June 2, 2020 New York Institute of Technology announced that the Vocational Independence Program (VIP) and summer Introduction to Independence (I-I) program would be discontinued. We are deeply saddened to share this news, but rather than dwell we will look toward the infinite possibilities that lay before us. To our students and colleagues both past and present, thank you for sharing your unique journeys and being part of VIP. Stay positive, be kind, and stay connected even though we’re apart. ♥️

VIP hosted yet another spirited Alumni Happy Hour last night and what made this one so special was that the Class of 2020 joined for their first event as 'official' alumni! Thanks to all for participating!

64 VIP Alumni (from over 30 years of graduating classes) came together this past Friday for an epic happy hour event! Our alumni, joined by faculty and fellow classmates, had an opportunity to share updates and stay connected. It was truly a special event and one we will be repeating soon!

Professor Lopez, the Chair of the New York Tech Department of Occupational Therapy is bringing his Inclusive Sports Fitness approach to New York Tech, and has started that with the Vocational Independence Program students. This past year, Professor Lopez and several Occupational Therapy students have met three times per week with our VIP students in a science-based fitness initiative that works on not just fitness, but their sensorimotor, social, emotional, and cognitive abilities as well. We will be continuing and expanding this relationship in the coming years.
