Rogers Farm Demonstration Garden The demonstration garden at Rogers Farm is a showcase for creative theme gardens, unique plants, innovative designs, and prolific vegetable gardens.

The demonstration garden at Rogers Farm is a collaborative effort between the University of Maine Cooperative Extension and the Maine Agricultural and Forest Experiment Station. It is a working showcase for creative theme gardens, unique and native plant varieties, and prolific vegetable production plots. It has been maintained by Master Gardener Volunteers since 1994 to demonstrate researched, su

stainable gardening practices and to inspire both the novice and seasoned gardener, alike. Here you will find not only beautiful, bountiful plants, but also living exhibits of practical horticultural advice based on actual research performed by University of Maine Cooperative Extension personnel and others. Several of the garden plots are also devoted to Maine Harvest for Hunger, a program devoted to connecting fresh produce with those in need in the local community. In 2015, the program donated over 300,000 lbs of freshly grown produce, statewide, and surpassed 2,000,000 lbs since its inception in 2000. This represents a huge commitment by volunteer gardeners and the University of Maine to address food insecurity in our communities. Free educational gardening programs are hosted during the season and growing advice is always available. Stop by to enjoy the tranquil paths, inhale the scent of herbs, relax on a bench, and enjoy the view!
