A message from Dr. Ferry: "This morning I had the honor to announce the 2025-2026 Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Palaima, Grade 4 Teacher. We have a staff full of exceptional teachers here at Grissom, and Mrs. Palaima is certainly one of them and so richly deserving of this award and great honor. Mrs. Palaima does an extraordinary job teaching her students every day, and her students experience tremendous academic growth year after year. She is a leader among our staff and students as she heads, facilitates, or is part of countless programs. These include Character Council, Play Unified, and several others. This veteran teacher’s many years of experience make her students and our school a better place every day. Congratulations, Mrs. Palaima, and thank you for everything you do to help your students and our school".

Attention all Gator families - join us as we “Chalk the Walk” on Wednesday, September 3 from 3:15–4:00 PM at Grissom!
All students and families are invited to help us decorate the sidewalks with positive and welcoming back to school messages. We’ll have some chalk, but please bring your own if you can. Kindergarten families can participate immediately following orientation.
Let’s start the year with Gator spirit! Help us spread the word to all Grissom families!

We are so excited to kick off our Book Fair with our teacher and student preview day!

Today, teachers will shop for their classroom libraries and our students will make their wishlists for shopping the rest of the week!

📣This morning we would like to give a BIG shout out to a valued member of our OBTPS staff and a favorite visitor of Grissom School, Mr. Tim Kraft 🎉🎉

As a member of our District Maintenance Department, we rely on Mr. Kraft for everything from hanging our school awards and banners🏆 to fixing doors and changing locks 🔐

Oftentimes, Mr. Kraft's assistance is in collaboration with our PTA's efforts to enhance our school environment 🤩 This week, he spent time on two projects that were sponsored by our PTA! He assembled and secured two benches in our outdoor garden area as well as built a beautiful shadow box for our school wide Lego project to be mounted in 🖼️

We are grateful for Mr. Kraft and all he does for the Grissom Community! 💜 If you see him around town or at another school, please be sure to thank him for the work he does in keeping our schools beautiful and functional. The Bridge

Today was all about our amazing staff! We celebrated their dedication, passion, and love for our Grissom Students. From coffee and pastries to a motivational sticker table, we had surprises for our staff all day long!

📣A big shout out to our sponsors of today's festivities:

• Alex and the staff at Alliance Orthopedics for spending teacher prep periods providing chair massages as well as a delicious lunch from Bloomfield Deli.

• Letrice and her crew from JerseySno Food Truck for braving the wind to provide a sweet treat of hot chocolate and donuts to our staff.

• Our Grissom Students who spent their indoor recess time making thank you cards for our staff. Watching our staff read them might have been the best part of the day 💙💛

• Dr. Anthony Arico for your heartfelt personal notes for each person. Also for your excitement, support, and willingness to let Mrs. Morrabal go crazy with the planning!

Today we hope our staff feels the love and appreciation that we feel for them every day!

The Grissom Gator Squad (formally K-Kids) are hosting a dance to support the Save The Children Foundation which is providing support to children and caregivers affected by the California Wildfires.
