Thanks to generous donors, our Ramsey Residence Hall was renovated this summer. Students living in this townhome-style residence were excited to see fresh paint, new flooring, fixtures, and countertops, as well as a new HVAC system. These renovations are part of a plan to renew and renovate dorms on a rotating basis. Our Uphaus and Stockton/Rice Residence Halls got some TLC this summer, too!

MNU nursing students recently learned more about the impact of poverty on healthcare. An interactive simulation highlighted both the systemic barriers and emotional toll of this complex social issue. It’s all part of educating nurses to care for the whole patient.
“As a future nurse, this experience made me think a lot about patient care. It reminded me that we never fully know what someone is dealing with outside of the hospital. A patient may seem frustrated, noncompliant, or distracted, but they could be dealing with financial stress, lack of transportation, or family responsibilities. The simulation really pushed me to think more empathetically and not judge situations too quickly.” —Yara Alsaleh, MNU nursing student

Forty students and sponsors from Grace Community Church of the Nazarene in Spring Hill, Kansas, recently served through Campus Stewardship Partners, MNU's new volunteer program, by freshening the lobby and porch of Stockton-Rice Hall.

"Service is a lifestyle," said Youth and Worship Pastor Brandon Cluff, who leads the group.
"The church has supported me in so many ways," said volunteer Kira Osburn. "I would give my heart and soul to give back a fraction of what God's done for me."
"Serving is about helping the community and bonding with the people around me," added Graham Bowman. "I get to do the Lord's work together with those who mean the most to me."

The students will travel to the Nazarene Youth Conference in Salt Lake City from July 1-5, where service is a key part of the experience.
