Olathe South High School The official page of Olathe South High School in Olathe, Kansas. The school is one of five high schools in the Olathe Public School District (USD 233).

Olathe South High School is a fully accredited public high school located in Olathe, Kansas, USA, serving students in grades 9-12. Olathe South High School was recognized as a National School of Excellence for the 1990-91 school year by the U.S. Department of Education, becoming the first high school in Olathe to do so. Olathe South's school colors are blue and gold, and the mascot is the Falcon.

The average annual enrollment at Olathe South is approximately 2,100 students. Olathe South High School was established in 1981 in order to help educate the rapidly increasing population of Olathe. In 2009, construction began on remodeling the school in order to accommodate ninth graders for the first time. The most notable feature of Olathe South is that it is entirely on one level. The campus is situated near the intersection of 151st and Ridgeview Roads in southern Olathe. The Falcons compete in the Sunflower League and are classified as a 6A school, the largest classification in Kansas according to the Kansas State High School Activities Association. .

Come to our organizational / sign-up meeting today during advisory in Room 1012, the Student Naturalist room. See Coach Radakovich if you have any questions.

Olathe South is starting a Sources of Strength group. If you are interested in being a Peer Leader, check out the bulletin board across from the counseling office or see Mrs. Roseman.

Interested in learning about Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA)? Come to our meeting on Friday, September 4th in room 415 during advisory.

Juniors and Seniors: if you have a 3.6GPA or higher, you are eligible to apply for National Honor Society. Please attend our meeting on 9/11 either during advisory in the Falcon's Nest or after school in Mrs. Sinclair's room (room 501) for more information and for the application

Attention Seniors: If you would like to be a part of Senior Committee, please attend a meeting on Friday, September 11th, in room 133 during Advisory. We will plan senior events such as Senior Sunset and Graduation.

The first meeting of the BSU will be held on Tuesday, Sept 8th, during Advisory. We will meet in Ms. Ramshaw's room, which is room 1201. Please see Ms. Ramshaw or Mrs. Lenz with any questions.

Junior Class: Do you want to help plan prom? From choosing the theme to planning the decor to advertising for ticket sales, we do it all! If you would like to help with this, join Junior Class Committee! There are flyers around the school with a QR code to apply, or you can get a paper copy of the application from Mrs. Sinclair or Mrs. Curtis.

Freshmen Tailgate will be on Friday, Sept 4th at 6:30pm, right before South's first home football game. We will meet on the ODAC soccer field for hot dogs, chips, and free t-shirts while supplies last. You'll have a chance to learn the OS chants, dress for the first game, and get into the game for free. See Mrs. Lenz in room 133 if you have any questions.

Come support the OS Cheerleaders at Culver's TONIGHT from 5pm-8pm at Culvers on 151st St in Olathe! We hope to see you there!

Thank you to Constitution Hall in Topeka for the Declaration of Independence resources as a part of the Teaching America 250 project. Ms. Dawson's government classes looked at how the ideals in the document extend beyond 1776 to impact life in our state and nation to present day. Through primary source analysis and discussion, students took learning from the last week to extend their understanding of the principles that guide our country and government.

Welcome back home to Olathe, Ms. Jessica Smith! 🦅🎉

Ms. Smith is joining our team as the new Assistant Orchestra Director! Drawn back to the area by Olathe South’s incredible performing arts program, she brings fantastic experience to our musicians. After graduating from Missouri State University in 2023, she spent three years teaching in Springfield, MO, and is currently pursuing her Master’s in String Pedagogy through Kansas State.

Get to know Ms. Smith:

Excited for: Everything this school year has to offer!

Hobbies: Playing ultimate frisbee, reading, working on puzzles, and hanging out with her dog.

Fun Fact: She absolutely loves Highland cows! 🐮🎻

The OS-HBCU Tour Program will be meeting TODAY during advisory in the Falcon Nest to talk about the 2027 spring tour to either Tennessee State University or Grambling State University. Please join us!

Welcome back to the Falcon family, Mrs. Kathy Gomez! 🦅🎉

Mrs. Gomez is joining our World Languages department to teach Spanish 1 and 2. Olathe South holds a special place in her heart—she is an OS alumna, and her own children will be Falcons in just a few years! A graduate of K-State with a master's degree from Emporia State, she brings great experience from her previous teaching roles in the Spring Hill School District.

Get to know Mrs. Gomez:

Excited for: Getting to know students in her community and inspiring a passion for learning Spanish!

Hobbies: Reading, gardening, and spending quality time with her family (and cheering on her 3 kids at their soccer games!).

Fun Fact: She has 7 chickens! 🐔🌱
