Do I take on too much? Probably. But it’s worth it.
Back in January I signed up to be a foster for the National Bernese Mountain Dog Rescue. I hadn’t heard anything and assumed I never would. This past month they reached out! While we were in Wichita I got the call that a sweet momma needed a ride. Chuck Potter III is ready to divorce me at this rate bc I couldn’t say no to this beautiful girl. The timing just happened to match up-and I know Ayannah would’ve loved seeing pictures/knowing we were giving a dog a safe haven.
So…meet Mia! She is a foster. She came from a breeding/hoarding facility. There were 40-50 dogs that they rescued. Sweet Mia had never been able to be a normal dog. She was kept in a cramped kennel and repeatedly bred. This is evidenced by some muscle loss in her back legs. Now she’s slowly adapting and learning from Molly and Spud. She’s gentle and scared but warming up. She nudged me for love for the first time today. She walks amazingly on the leash, wants to be near you, and seems to be potty trained!
Mia will be available for adoption sometime after her spay. Berners have been my forever dream dog (don’t tell Molly) and this gentle girl is just reinforcing my love for the breed.
