Where to start organizing physical photos? I am going to do a series of posts taking you through a sorting project I am working on.
THE GREAT GATHERING
SUPPLIES:
• Table and shelves to collect photos.
• Pencil and Post-its to label scrapbooks and boxes.
• Storage totes to hold everything
• Small bins to hold flash drives
Go through the basement, attic, and living room shelves. Find the flash drives hidden in drawers and in old cameras or phones. Set up a collecting zone. If you still have photos at a parent's house, now is the time to get them. Don't forget the VHS and camcorder tapes along with slides and negatives and photo cd’s.
Helpful Hint 1: Put a Post-it on the front of scrapbooks and bins with a brief description of what it contains. Include the family names and dates if possible.
Helpful Hint 2: Keep negatives and photos inside the photo envelopes for now, but write a brief description on the outside.
Helpful Hint 3: Take photos out of frames if possible unless they are in the original cardboard frame.
