Chapter Officer Retreat 2026!
Officers spent a day of planning this years events and worked on building their team working skills with former Chapter Officer LeAundre Delonia.
Friday students took tours of the OKC Zoo and Oklahoma Memorial and Museum.

Five Okmulgee FFA members spent the last four days at Oklahoma FFAs Happiest Place on Earth! At Alumni Leadership Camp students were encouraged to step out of their comfort zone, engage in small groups sessions, compete in ropes course, water Olympics, and leadership workshops. Students are bringing home skills to implement back into the chapter and are excited for leadership roles in the future.

Plant a seed and watch it grow...
School gardens serve as "living laboratories" where students learn and apply math, science, and environmental studies. Just to name a few.

Outdoor classroom environments provide real hands on learning opportunities. Students are challenged with unpredicable outcomes everyday. One day it might be a pest management problem to solve, and the next it might be a nitrogen imbalance. Due to the unpredictable nature of maintaining a school garden, it makes problem solving unavoidable, and divergent thinking a must.

Other benefits include healthy lifestyles.
If at student plants a tomato they will eat a tomato, if they plant mint they eat mint, and so on and so forth. School gardens, land-labs, and school farms bring the idea of healthy eating to the forefront. Learning to care for plants makes student buy-in undeniable, they are 100% more likely to try a fruit or vegetable if they grew it themselves, or even helped with its care. Which develops healthy eating habits, and encourages embracing a more diverse diet.

These are just a few of the benefits a school gardens provides for its students. From improved test scores, to collaborative cooperation amongst students, as well as planning and planting pollinator habitats, and understanding conservation to create real world solutions... the impacts are immeasurable. Okmulgee FFA and Okmulgee Public Schools continue to strive to provide engaging hands on learning opportunities, that will not only benefit our students and community, but also generations to come.
