🛠️ FACULTY FEATURE | GREG MEREDITH 🛠️

For Greg Meredith, GCTC isn’t unfamiliar territory.

Before joining our team as an Instructional Assistant in Construction Trades, Greg was a GCTC student and SkillsUSA competitor. After earning State Gold in Extemporaneous Speaking, he advanced to the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference, where he earned a Bronze Medal — placing third in the nation.

An Okmulgee native, Greg served in the United States Air Force before retiring from military service and exploring a variety of occupations. Today, he says construction and teaching have become a good fit — bringing him back to GCTC in a completely different role.

Outside of the classroom, Greg is working to improve his old-time banjo skills, enjoys eating at home where he can be intentional about the ingredients in his food, and continues to focus on becoming a better version of himself each day.

One quote that has stuck with him:
“Nature as foundation, excellence as goal, beauty as horizon.” — Dominique Venner

From GCTC student and national SkillsUSA medalist to member of the GCTC team, Greg’s story has come full circle — and we’re glad to have him back.

💚 Welcome home, Mr. Meredith.

⚡ FACULTY FEATURE - MR. AUSTIN WILSON ⚡

Meet Mr. Austin Wilson, GCTC’s new Electrical Trades Instructor and the instructor helping lead the way for our newest full-time program.

Originally from Bristow, Oklahoma, Mr. Wilson brings 10 years of experience as an electrician into the classroom, giving future students the opportunity to learn from someone who knows the industry firsthand.

Outside of GCTC, you’ll probably find him lifting weights, traveling, or heading somewhere coastal — especially if there’s good seafood involved.

His favorite piece of advice comes from Joshua 1:9:
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

We’re excited to have Mr. Wilson as part of the GCTC family and even more excited for what’s ahead.

⚡ Electrical Trades is coming to GCTC!
Early enrollment begins January 2027 - keep an eye out for more information.

Welcome to GCTC, Mr. Wilson! 💚

🌟 Setting the Standard for a Strong Year 🌟

Mrs. Spring and Mrs. James brought our students together for a campus-wide School Expectations Assembly, setting the tone for a successful year at GCTC.

Students reviewed important expectations, policies, attendance guidelines, and the student handbook while also learning about opportunities to make the most of their time on campus — from CTSO involvement and NTHS to leadership opportunities through our new GC Trailblazers Student Ambassador Program.

More than rules and policies, the conversation centered on our mission and this year’s campus theme: Being Intentional. Be intentional with your attendance. Your choices. Your involvement. Your goals. And the future you’re building.

Success doesn’t happen by accident. Show up. Get involved. Be intentional. 💚

🧤🥽 SUITED FOR SAFETY 🥽🧤

Mrs. Underwood and Mrs. Graham’s HCC students are suiting up and putting proper PPE procedures into practice.

Knowing how to correctly select, wear, and remove personal protective equipment is essential training for anyone entering the healthcare field — and a key foundation for protecting both patients and healthcare professionals.

Hats off to Mrs. Underwood and Mrs. Graham for equipping students with the skills, habits, and attention to detail they’ll carry with them into the workplace.

Strong healthcare careers start with strong fundamentals. 💚

🖥️ BEHIND THE SCREEN. INSIDE THE MACHINE. 🖥️

Mr. Houston’s Programming & Video Game Development students are taking a deeper look at the technology that powers everything they create.

Students are cracking open computers, identifying components and learning how RAM, storage drives, processors, motherboards and more work together to keep a PC running. It’s more than knowing how to use a computer — it’s understanding how it works, how to troubleshoot it and how to build it.

These hands-on hardware skills give students another layer of technical knowledge they can carry into programming, game development, IT and beyond.

BUILD IT. TEST IT. LEARN FROM IT. 🏗️

Mr. Hale’s Welding students traded steel for drinking straws during a hands-on lesson in structural design and problem-solving.

Working in teams of three, students were given just 20 straws and tape and challenged to build a bridge capable of supporting at least a full bottle of water.

It may look simple, but the challenge put some very real concepts to work — weight distribution, structural support, teamwork, planning and learning through trial and error.

Because before you can build it with steel, it helps to understand why it stands.
That’s hands-on learning at work. 🔥
