At the Epworth Villa senior living community, the writing workshop doesn't follow a syllabus. There are no frantic students pulling all-nighters or grading rubrics.

Instead, there is what Oklahoma City University English professor Rob Roensch calls a "meaningful, ceremonial sharing."

For Roensch, who has led the bi-weekly workshop since approximately 2017, the initial transition from the university classroom to the retirement community required a shift in perspective.

Registration is open for OCU's 2026 Summer Business Academy, an immersive three-day program designed to give high school students a head start on their college and professional journeys.

Hosted by the Meinders School of Business from July 20-22, the academy is open to rising high school sophomores, juniors and seniors.

The program combines academic exploration with hands-on experience, offering a unique preview of the college experience and the diverse career paths available in the modern business world.

Following the announcement today of his retirement from public office, Oklahoma City University celebrates the career and service of Chickasaw Nation Gov. Bill Anoatubby.

A true civic and leadership giant in the state of Oklahoma, Anoatubby has supported Oklahoma City University and worked closely with the school for many years.

Key initiatives have included the educational partnership between OCU, Apple and the Chickasaw Nation and the formation of the Tribal Sovereignty Institute at the OCU School of Law.

Additionally, Anoatubby and the Chickasaw Nation have supported the Law School Library, the Meinders School of Business, OCU performing arts, OCU athletics, and numerous other areas of the university. In 2010, Anoatubby was recognized with induction into the university’s Oklahoma Commerce and Industry Hall of Honor.

University leaders are thankful for Anoatubby’s tremendous impact on our state, and also his years of friendship and support. We wish Gov. Anoatubby all the best in his next chapter!
