Member Monday - Meet Ashley 💐

Ashley has been doing pottery for 2 years. She dabbled in clay a bit in high school so when she moved to Oklahoma, she convinced her mom to sign up together for beginner 1 & hasn’t left since! She is a friend to all and the studio is simply brighter when she’s in it!

Her work leans functional. Perfecting mugs and pieces for everyday use that are comfortable and seriously stunning. We love seeing the glaze combos and shapes she creates. Ashley’s been painting with Underglaze recently and the illustrations have us all so excited to see them through the kiln!

Ashley says: “I love being a member at Prairie because of the community they have built. I am inspired by all of the people who create art there and learn something new every time I go to the studio.”

“My pottery goals are endless. I am currently working on building a studio in my house and plan to create an entire dinnerware set. It is a dream to have all of my dinnerware handmade by me. Otherwise, lidded jars are definitely a never-ending work in progress and maybe someday I’ll have the courage to make a teapot.”

We love Ashley & are so glad she came back to clay and found a home at Prairie ♥️

Adrienne 🦋

Adrienne (our social butterfly!) has been doing pottery for 3 years, and if you’ve seen her work, you already know she LOVES to have fun with it. She makes the best playful pieces especially lidded jars, mugs, and cake stands. ✨ Ordinary functional items always have a gorgeous refreshing personalization with Adrienne’s world of color and vision.

When we asked what she loves about Prairie, she said:

“I love the community at Prairie and the friends I’ve made so far. I love seeing all the different pieces people make, it’s like an art showcase every time you go in.”

Her goals are to keep getting more comfortable with clay, keep improving her techniques, and most importantly, keep playing and having fun.

We’re also very into that philosophy around here! 💗

New month, new clay adventures 🧡 Our October class schedule is officially up on the website!

Featuring our NEW Advanced I Wheel class and a couple of fun seasonal workshops (pumpkins 🎃 + beer steins 🍺)

We also are having a Kids 1x Fall Break workshop! 👻

Pottery classes and workshops in Oklahoma City for every skill level. 4-week beginner courses, 1x workshops, date nights, and kids classes. New classes open monthly.

Beginner 1 teaches the foundations of the wheel 🍃

From wedging, to throwing, to trimming, and finally glazing, students learn the basics of taking a simple lump of clay and transforming it into something made entirely by their own hands.

No experience necessary—just come ready to get your hands dirty. 🤎

Member Monday EMMA ✨

When unloading the kiln or looking at the pickup shelf, you know it’s Emma’s before being able to flip to the bottom to see the makers mark. Her pots are light, and angular and thoughtfully trimmed to perfection. Her consistency through her forms and repetition just make her work so memorizing.

She’s also our resident glaze combo scientist. Emma will casually dip something in two glazes, create a combination none of us thought of, and suddenly the entire studio is doing it.

But what we love most is the person behind the pots 🩷 Emma is kind and funny. She’s one of the best conversationalist at the studio and it’s endlessly joyful to be in the wheel circle at the same time as her. If you get an opportunity to say hi to Emma at the studio, your day will be all the better for it.

We’re very glad Emma is part of our little pottery community. 🤎
