In recognition of National Volunteer Day on April 20th, we are proud to celebrate Arteriyah S., one of our 9th grade students, for achieving an incredible milestone—70 hours of volunteer service as a first year high school student.

As a freshman, this is a huge accomplishment and a strong example of dedication and leadership. At Dove, completing 100 hours of volunteer service by the end of senior year is a graduation requirement, and Arteriyah is already well on her way.

As a new high school, we are building a culture of service, and she is helping lead the way. Congratulations, Arteriyah, on this remarkable achievement. We look forward to seeing all the great things you will continue to accomplish!

At Dove South, we are committed to creating meaningful, first-hand learning experiences that bring education to life beyond the classroom.

Recently, our ninth and some eight-grade Oklahoma History students had the exciting opportunity to visit the Oklahoma State Capitol and the Oklahoma History Center. At the Capitol, students explored the Senate and House floors, gaining a deeper understanding of the legislative process and how decisions are made at the state level.

Their journey continued at the Oklahoma History Center, where they engaged with interactive exhibits, learned about Oklahoma’s rich history, and even stepped into the past by dressing up and reenacting historical scenes.

Experiences like these allow our students to connect what they learn in class to the real world, reinforcing knowledge through active participation. At Dove South, we remain dedicated to providing opportunities that inspire curiosity, deepen understanding, and empower our students through hands-on learning.

Coach Welch’s AP Human Geography class recently visited the campus of Mid-America Christian University, gaining valuable firsthand experience of college life. During their trip, students shared a meal in the cafeteria alongside current college students, toured the campus and athletic facilities, and met with the University’s Vice President for Alumni Relations and Communications to learn about marketing strategies and the college admissions process. They also explored the nursing lab, where they were introduced to patient care practices.

Experiences like this highlight an important truth: students learn best when they can engage directly with the subject matter. By stepping outside the classroom and immersing themselves in a real college environment, these students were able to connect their studies to real-world applications. There is no better place to begin building that understanding than on a college campus, where learning comes to life in meaningful and memorable ways.

Getting up and moving around in a social studies class might surprise some people—but in Mr. Welch's class, it’s part of the learning experience.

In this class, students are taking part in a gallery walk to explore the Indian Wars or mapping out the tribes relocated to Oklahoma, helping them visualize history in a meaningful way. Sometimes they even create their own historical tools, making the past feel more real and memorable.

When students are actively involved—walking, mapping, creating—history comes to life. Social studies becomes more than just facts and dates; it becomes something they truly experience.

This year, we are offering so many exciting classes as part of our Career Pathways program! One of those incredible opportunities is PLTW Biomedical Sciences.

In this class, there is never a day without a hands-on activity. Students are constantly engaged in real-world learning experiences that bring science to life. Last week, learning went beyond the classroom walls as students visited the Museum of Osteology for an unforgettable field experience.

Experiences like these give our students hands-on exposure to careers in medicine, research, and forensic science. We are proud to provide engaging, real-world learning opportunities that prepare students for their future!
