You crawl before you walk... pretty obvious, right?

You build a foundation before you start playing the fitness games we call training today. Again, pretty obvious. Yet somehow it’s become one of the most skipped steps in the entire health and fitness world.

Everyone wants the exercises.
Everyone wants the program.
Everyone wants the intensity.

Very few want to build the foundation that allows those things to actually work long term.

If your goal is to keep playing the game well as you age, eventually you have to understand that movement matters beyond the gym. Your quality of life will always be bigger than your gym identity.

I don’t like following rules either.

But physiological laws are a different conversation.

The body wants rhythm.
The body wants coordination.
The body wants variability.
The body wants movement competency.

Ignore those long enough and eventually they’ll force themselves back into the conversation.

It’s about sunshine and enjoyable movement/moments in the end

Do yourself a favor and aim to not overcomplicate this stuff. There is too much noise out there

Stay focused on you
-how you eat
-how you think
-how you move

These provide much more in the end

Be simple and enjoy the process.. All that marketing, fear mongering, and cherry picked science….. it’s just noise, it’ll fade out….

There is pros and cons to everything

Community.
Variety.
Music that brings energy.
A good atmosphere.

These are all things that make working out—or better yet, training—more enjoyable.

They help people stay engaged, supported, and consistent. And honestly, that’s a beautiful thing. Use it to its fullest potential.

But eventually, real progress always circles back to the same truth:

Consistency with the basics.
Day after day.
Week after week.
Year after year.

It’s usually a slower journey than people want it to be. Some days you’re digging with a shovel. Some days with a spoon. But either way, you keep digging.

That’s why I love this video. It represents the uncomfortable reality we all eventually have to make peace with if we truly want this for life.

It’s quiet.
It’s repetitive.
It’s simple.

And ironically, those are usually the very things that move the needle the most in the end.

Enjoy the community.
Enjoy the energy.
Enjoy the games and challenges we create to make the process more fun and meaningful.

But long-term success usually comes from becoming comfortable with the uncomfortable—showing up, doing the basics well, and continuing forward even when it’s no longer exciting.

Doing a few things well, consistently, usually wins in the end. But that’s a mindset itself.

This may be a high flying ball hit to deep left field that’s back back back gonnnnneeeeee

The deeper thoughts make the most sense

Just usually never on social media where the Dunning Krugers thrive

Accept… or continue to “optimize”

Like most movements, rocking can be done passively or actively.

Most people stay passive—just moving through it and letting compensations take over. It still has value.

But when you actually dive into the movement, something different happens. You start to realign, reconnect, and reprogram how your body moves—more flow, more connection, less compression.

Rock either way.

But if you’re trying to make real change—intention, action, and intensity matter.
