The yearbook process and the product! Our yearbook committee did a great job this year compiling the good times❤️.

Overheard at the grocery store “I’m not sure what they are doing but it seems really important. “ This was a comment made while a handful of R&R students were playing “old enough”. They make challenges and see how much they can do independently without any adult intervention. This is an offering we have been holding for over a year. This week”s challenge was to recreate a recipe from our book club book “A Series of Unfortunate Events”. Some of the students that weren’t active participants in the recipe building, budget balancing, and grocery shopping were working on being the film crew. We do attract an audience from time to time. Kids being allowed to make their own rules and practice them as independently as they want is something strange in our world now. I loved this comment from the by-passer because it sums up a lot of the space we hold for their processes. We don’t always need to understand but we shouldn’t pass judgment or interfere because what they are doing is important.

2) a really fun map making process (bonus points because it’s messy) where you develop your own fantasy world with bird seed.
3) a look into some students’ canva compilations as they build fantasy worlds and how that process can evolve.
