"Increasing organ donation in minority communities is not just about numbers – it's about saving lives and giving hope to families." –Dr. Velma Scantlebury, the first African American female transplant surgeon.

Black Americans make up 13% of the U.S. population, but 27% of those are waiting for an organ transplant. Your decision to register as a donor can help save lives and bring hope to those waiting for a lifesaving transplant. This Juneteenth, join us in reflecting, uplifting, and recommitting to a future where every life has an equal chance.

LifeShare is proud to celebrate an incredible achievement by our Tissue Services team, who received four major awards from MTF Biologics in recognition of their dedication to excellence in tissue donation and recovery. 🏆💙💚

LifeShare was honored with the Golden Glove, Golden Graft, Emerald Partner with Distinction, and Platinum Partner Awards — including the Platinum Partner Award, MTF Biologics’ highest annual recognition given to one of its 29 recovery partners.

This award recognizes outstanding performance across all areas of tissue operations, including donor evaluation, surgical recovery, documentation and quality systems. It represents the precision, compassion and collaboration our teams bring to honoring every donor hero and supporting the recipients whose lives are impacted through tissue donation.

LifeShare was also recognized for achieving best practices in eight key areas, including excellence in chart completion, clinical quality and advanced technical skill in specialty tissue recovery.

These honors reflect the commitment of our dedicated team members, healthcare partners and donor families who make this work possible every day. Together, we continue to honor the gift of donation and inspire hope across our communities.

✨ LifeShare History ✨

In 2006, LifeShare reached an important milestone by purchasing its first principal office off Broadway Extension, along with a dedicated tissue recovery building near 63rd and Hudson.

This step forward helped strengthen our ability to serve donor families, support healthcare partners and continue our mission of saving lives and inspiring hope.

Forty years ago today, a vision of hope took root in Oklahoma. On June 10, 1986, the Oklahoma Organ Sharing Network was incorporated, beginning a journey that would save lives, restore sight and create lasting legacies.

Over the past four decades, we've seen new names, new innovations, and countless stories of generosity and healing. As we celebrate 40 years of saving lives and inspiring hope, we look ahead to a future made possible by the selfless gift of organ, eye and tissue donation.

To every donor hero, donor family, recipient, volunteer, advocate and supporter—thank you for being part of this incredible legacy. 💙
