El Sistema Oklahoma

El Sistema Oklahoma (ESO) is a free after-school music program for Oklahoma City Public School students.

While our students receive instruction from top-notch music teachers five days a week during the school year, El Sistema Oklahoma is about more than music education. We believe musicianship is one tool to help children grow as responsible citizens and community members. The children who participate in El Sistema Oklahoma receive a world-class musical education with lessons that extend beyond the practice room and into the real world. Research is beginning to show what our teachers and staff strongly believe: what children learn at El Sistema Oklahoma will have a meaningful and profound impact in their daily lives and on our community in the years to come. We take great pride and joy in working with our children. Currently, El Sistema Oklahoma serves 220 children in third through ninth grade.

Wow! What an amazing week we had!
Our nueva students completed their first full week of program! We absolutely loved getting to know these students so far and we can already see that their future is bright! They got the chance to try out all kinds of instruments before they make their choice of which one they want to learn!
We can’t wait to learn more about these students and watch them grow into amazing young musicians!

¡Nuestros estudiantes nueva completaron su primera semana completa del programa! Nos ha encantado conocer a estos estudiantes hasta ahora y ya podemos ver que su futuro es prometedor. ¡Tuvieron la oportunidad de probar todo tipo de instrumentos antes de elegir cuál quieren aprender!
¡Estamos deseando conocer más sobre estos estudiantes y verles crecer hasta convertirse en jóvenes músicos increíbles!

Our awesome teachers have spent the last week in Professional Development, to get ready to greet our returning students on Tuesday! Remember: Returning students begin this Tuesday, August 25th. Nueva Students begin next Monday, August 31st!

We ended the week with a trip to the movie theater, some arts and crafts and an exciting day of learning and fun at Flogistics.

We are having a blast at summer camp this year! ☀️🕶️✨🎶

We have been working on some fun music in preparation for our concert at the end of the week, as well as making beautiful works of art and hanging out with some awesome animals! 🐍🦘

The best part of summer camp is reuniting with these awesome students! 🧡🦋

Hemos estado trabajando en música divertida para prepararnos para nuestro concierto de final de semana, además de crear obras de arte preciosas y pasar tiempo con animales increíbles. 🐍🦘

✨ Summer Camp Recap ✨

Last week, we welcomed back our older students for 3 days of fun, friends, and “Feeling Good” 😎🎶

In between learning music, our students traveled to some awesome locations around the city, like groundcontrolparkokc for some playful exercise! 🤸‍♂️🏀
Next up was nexus_animals, where we got to give back to our community by volunteering to paint some fences (and our sweet reward, visiting and petting their farm animals 🐴)!
Our last stop was flogistix, where our students got to learn about different job opportunities, including drone flying, commercial making, and more! 👩‍🏭📽️

But the best part of summer camp is always reuniting with our students after months apart 🧡🦋

✨ Resumen del Campamento de Verano ✨

La semana pasada, recibimos nuevamente a nuestros estudiantes mayores para disfrutar de 3 días llenos de diversión, amistad y “Feeling Good” 😎🎶

Además de aprender música, nuestros estudiantes visitaron algunos lugares increíbles de la ciudad, como Ground Control, donde disfrutaron de actividades recreativas y mucho movimiento 🤸‍♂️🏀
Después fuimos a Nexus Animals, donde tuvimos la oportunidad de servir a nuestra comunidad ayudando a pintar cercas. (¡Y como recompensa, pudimos convivir y acariciar a los adorables animales de la granja! 🐴)
Nuestra última parada fue Flogistix, donde los estudiantes aprendieron sobre distintas oportunidades profesionales, incluyendo el manejo de drones, la producción de comerciales y mucho más 👩‍🏭📽️

Pero la mejor parte del campamento de verano siempre es volver a reunirnos con nuestros estudiantes después de varios meses sin vernos 🧡🦋

What a concert! 🤩🤩🤩

El Sistema finished off their program year with an outstanding concert 🎶 Twelve different ensembles had the opportunity to perform, with works ranging from classical to musical theatre! 🎻🎭

We sure are going to miss making music with these students over the summer 🦋 Just 14 weeks until we return in August!!! 🥳

¡El Sistema cerró su año de programa con un concierto increíble! 🎶 Doce diferentes ensambles tuvieron la oportunidad de presentarse, ¡con obras que iban desde música clásica hasta teatro musical! 🎻🎭

De verdad vamos a extrañar hacer música con estos estudiantes durante el verano 🦋 ¡Solo faltan 14 semanas para regresar en agosto! 🥳
