Your retirement benefit isn't based on just one number. It's calculated using a simple formula that combines three key factors:

- Your Final Average Salary
- Your Years of Credited Service
- A 2% multiplier established by Oklahoma law

The more you understand how these pieces work together, the better prepared you'll be as you plan for retirement. Visit our Retirement Ready One-Pager at https://bit.ly/4vU18qI

At TRS, every retirement represents a lifetime of service and the beginning of a new chapter. Helping Oklahoma's education employees reach that milestone is what inspires our team every day.

Frances Rogers, Member Services Manager - Retirement Planning, recently reflected on what her time at TRS has meant to her:

"My career with the Teachers' Retirement System has truly become my life's work.

Over the many years, the people I have helped have become more than just names or files. Their stories, accomplishments, and plans for the future have reminded me that retirement is not the end of a journey, it is the beginning of a new chapter. I think that as the years move by that I find that the people part of my job is the best part, helping them navigate the road to retirement and understand their choices. I am grateful to be part of that transition and to help people move forward into the next stage of their lives. Serving the education employees of the state of Oklahoma has become my passion because it allows me to make a meaningful difference, one person at a time."

We're grateful for team members like Frances, whose dedication helps Oklahoma's educators confidently prepare for retirement.

Beginning today, July 1, 2026, changes under HB 2288 are officially in effect for TRS members.

The legislation updates post-retirement employment rules, including a new six-month break-in-service requirement for members retiring on or after July 1, 2026, and removes earnings limitations for many retirees returning to public education employment after meeting the required break in service.

If you are considering retirement or post-retirement employment, now is a great time to review the updated guidance and understand how these changes may affect your plans.
