FOOTBALL PLAYER COLLAPSES: This is 10-year-old Jaheir Booker — a 5th grader who collapsed during football practice for Millwood Public Schools in Oklahoma City. The coaching staff immediately started CPR and called 911. Jaheir later died at the hospital.

It happened on Thursday afternoon on the track field during football practice. Jaheir’s teammates are heartbroken after witnessing something so traumatic and the loss of their friend. His mother says her son was one of the sweetest, most genuine souls you could ever meet. She says, “He was always smiling, had a heart that was truly one of a kind. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing him knew just how special he was. HE WAS LOVED!”

The Millwood superintendent says, “Jaheir was a cherished member of our school community since the age of four, and his siblings remain in our district. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to his family and loved ones during this painful time.”

Grief counseling and support services are available for all students and staff.
