The ASTEC community is invited to stop by on Friday, July 31, from 1:00–5:00 p.m. to pick up FREE furniture and other miscellaneous items as we continue settling into our new facilities.

Doors will open promptly at 1:00 p.m. Please do not arrive before 1:00 p.m., as early entry will not be permitted.

🎓 Metro Tech Family Orientation Night 🖤💛

Scholars accepted into the Metro Tech program for the 2026–2027 school year and their families are invited to attend our Metro Tech Family Orientation Night.

During the orientation, families will receive important school policy updates and complete the updated ASTEC Metro Tech Agreement required for program participation.

🚗 Parking & Entrance: Please park on the west side of the building and enter through the west entrance doors located under the blue awning.

This orientation is for approved 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade ASTEC Metro Tech scholars and their families. We look forward to seeing you there and helping you prepare for a successful school year!

🎨 Dr. Clarissa Urbina Brings New Inclusive Art Strategies to ASTEC 🖤💛

Dr. Urbina, ASTEC’s Middle School Art teacher, recently attended the Oklahoma State Department of Education's 2026 Fine Arts Summer Academy, "Differently Brilliant: Arts Education for Exceptional Learners!"

This year's academy focused on creating inclusive art classrooms that meet the diverse needs of every scholar through thoughtful accommodations, modifications, and instructional strategies.

We're proud to share that many of the best practices presented at the academy are already part of ASTEC's inclusive educational model. Dr. Urbina's participation reinforces our commitment to ensuring every scholar has the opportunity to learn, create, and thrive in a supportive environment.

Reflecting on the experience, Dr. Urbina shared her favorite takeaway from "The
Basics of Behavior" session:

"Knowing about their history, impairments, deficits, and conditions does not help their behavior, but it can help mine."

This powerful reminder highlights the importance of understanding each scholar's unique experiences—not to define them, but to help educators respond with greater empathy, patience, and effectiveness.

The sessions will cost $30 a person and raise money for animal conservation. All supplies necessary will be provided with cost of ticket.🎨
