Salutes Dr. Sergio Monteiro on his latest album for Naxos Brasil, recorded this week at the Bass Music Center! He notes: "This time, it is an immense honor to record Francisco Mignone’s complete cycle of Sonatas and Sonatinas. This is possibly one of the most important cycles for piano in Brazilian literature, standing proudly alongside Villa-Lobos’s Prole do Bebê and Guarnieri’s Ponteios.This music brings back so many memories of the beginning of my career. In fact, I received the score for the 2nd Sonata as a high school student directly from Maria Josephina Mignone, the composer’s widow." Bravo!
