😢 NOBODY WARNS TEACHERS ABOUT WHAT THE JOB DOES TO THE BODY

The feet that stop working right after standing on hard floors for seven hours.

The voice that gives out by November because it has been projecting over background noise since August.

The headaches from fluorescent lighting and not drinking enough water because there is never a good time to refill a bottle.

The weight that shifts from stress eating lunch in eight minutes standing up.

The sleep that never feels like sleep because the brain never fully clocks out.

The Sunday that starts feeling like dread at 4pm.

Nobody mentioned any of this in the credential program.

They talked about lesson planning.

They talked about classroom management.

They talked about building relationships with students.

Nobody said the job would live in your body.

Nobody said you would need an entire summer just to feel like yourself again.

Nobody said that by year ten you would be carrying it in ways you could not even name.

Signed, Elle. A former teacher who found out her body had been keeping score the whole time and spent the first year after leaving just trying to get even.

Morgan Freeman didn’t just criticize Mississippi’s education system.

He put his own money behind trying to improve it.

After returning to live in Mississippi, Freeman became increasingly concerned about the state of education and especially what was happening to children in some of its poorest communities.

His response wasn’t simply to complain.

He helped direct his foundation toward early childhood education, reading, and giving children a stronger start in life.

And years later, he’s still speaking up about it.

The State of Texas is offering $100,000 in salary and incentives for classroom educators and $145,000 for principals.
Texas excels in the effort to fill vacancies while Oklahoma gave a $2,000 raise that comes with additional workdays, leaving the state struggling to fill vacancies.
Oklahoma teachers are looking at a move to Texas because it’s close to home and will provide a livable wage.
There is no word yet on how Oklahoma plans to handle teacher shortages. In the past the state has brought in teachers from other countries and lowered standards that allow people to teach without degrees.
How are your schools holding up?
