A Silkie Selfie 🐓🤍🧡

The ducks’ first trip to the pond was a success! They were nervous to venture too far from their safe and familiar pen, but with some will and a lot of effort, they made it to the water’s edge. One of the gray ones bolstered some extra courage to step into the water, and immediately she realized how wonderful it was! Her entire flock followed, and now they can’t get enough. They’re all enjoying the pond now; the cool water, the nutritious food, the wonder of living. The pond will benefit from their presence too. As the ducks sift through the excess mud, they’ll eat the algae and create more space for the rest of the pond’s creatures to thrive. I’d say we humans gained something from watching this all unfold as well. That’s thrivability for all 💛

Spring sunsets at Sadhana Farm School 🌅

Nazim is a big brother! Our newest babies have just been introduced to their new home here and we can tell they are going to love it here. Our Anatolian Shepherd, Nazim, just turned a year old in March, and he has been a fantastic guard dog, protecting the chickens and guinea fowl day and night. Within minutes of meeting his new baby brothers and sisters, he was already getting into his role, sniffing and checking on these day-old, newly hatched Muscovy ducklings. You can also see the two fluffy chicks in the background too. They are silkie chickens about five weeks old. They will all grow up together and soon join the other fowl, eating insects around the farm and promoting a healthy ecosystem. We are excited for you to come meet them! Welcome home, little ones! 🐣🦆🥰

Spring has sprung 🌸🌼🌻🌷💐☀️

These two hens are really getting into the spring season! They have been brooding over their own eggs as well as the guinea hens’ eggs for the past two weeks straight! They take their work as mothers very seriously, and because of their compassion, dedication, and self sacrifice, we will likely be welcoming some new chicks and keets into the world next week! What a wonderful reminder of the way the earth provides and needs cared for on this Earth Day! 🌎🌍🌏
