⚙️ This Labor Day, we celebrate machinists — past, present and future. 🇺🇸

Did you know that one of the people credited with originating Labor Day was a machinist?

Matthew Maguire of Paterson, New Jersey, a machinist, is recognized by many historians as the person who proposed the idea of a day to honor American workers in 1882. The history is shared with Peter J. McGuire.

That history makes today especially meaningful for us at the Manufacturing Skills Academy - MSA

We are proud to celebrate our MSA machinists and the future machinists who are learning the skills, technology and craftsmanship that keep American manufacturing moving forward.

From Matthew Maguire and the machinists of the past to the young people entering manufacturing careers today — the tradition of skilled work continues.

And behind every machinist is a story of opportunity, determination, craftsmanship and pride.

Today, we honor those who came before us, celebrate those doing the work today, and invest in those who will build the future. 🔧⚙️

🎉 ONE YEAR AGO, IT ALL BEGAN! 🎉

One year ago, our very first cohort walked through the doors of the Manufacturing Skills Academy - MSA and took the first step toward launching new careers in manufacturing.

What started as a vision has become real skills, real careers, real confidence, and real opportunities. 💪

But this milestone belongs to more than just the MSA. It belongs to our community. ❤️

To the manufacturers who opened their doors, shared their expertise, conducted mock interviews, offered tours and career opportunities — thank you.

To our partners, funders, educators, workforce professionals, community leaders, and everyone who believed in this vision — thank you for investing in people and in Oklahoma’s future.

To the families who encouraged our participants, and to everyone who cheered them on along the way — thank you.

And most importantly, to our team: thank you for believing in our participants and the future of manufacturing .

This past year has shown what can happen when a community comes together around one shared goal: creating pathways to meaningful careers and strengthening Oklahoma’s manufacturing workforce.
