We went to get our Seminole students their stole and cord just now and the Chief and Assistant Chief came out to meet us to give us their tribal honors!! So amazing!! The first ever female Seminole Chief and the First Assistant Chief was the first female to get her welding certificate from OK. She had to get special permission to take the test as a female!! True leaders of the Seminole Nation!!! We were not expecting that. Amazing honor!!

When inclement weather is forecasted...we receive a lot of questions regarding attendance. Please see below for some of the most asked questions:
Inclement weather decisions for early dismissal are based on several factors, including:
Road and sidewalk safety
Temperature and wind chill
Bus accessibility
Potential power outages
Attendance During Inclement Weather-
If a parent or guardian chooses to keep a student home due to weather conditions, the absence will not be excused unless: Western Heights Public School district closes school, or Western Heights Public Schools officially notifies families that students will be dismissed early due to inclement weather.
Transportation-
Tardies will be excused for bus riders on inclement weather days if a school bus is running late. Breakfast will be offered to all late-arriving students on inclement weather days.
If WHPS makes the decision to close early, school bus routes will operate their normal routes just at the earlier times.
District Communications-
Western Heights Public Schools will share official inclement weather information through:
The WHPS official website ( westernheights.k12.ok.us )
WHPS official social media pages
Local news stations-
Please be cautious of school closing notifications that are AI-generated or shared from unofficial sources. Families should rely only on information posted by Western Heights Public Schools through official channels.
Families-
Parents and guardians should always use their own judgment when deciding whether it is safe to send their student to school during inclement weather.
Families are encouraged to have a contingency plan in place for early dismissals or unexpected school closures.
Student Safety Reminder-
All of Western Heights Public Schools follow established safety procedures for early checkouts. Students will only be released to a parent or guardian listed in the student’s Infinite Campus contact information.
