Krystal Claxton : Certified Parent Educator My name is Krystal Claxton, a Certified Parent Educator. all while enjoying their parenting journey! From the beginning, all parents are teachers.

PAT {Parents As Teachers} believes that all parents, regardless of personal circumstances, can be empowered to interact with their children in a way that encourages healthy well-rounded development . . . . What services are offered to you?

• Personalized home visits or virtual visits at least twice a month

• Prenatal education & child development education including positive parent-child interac

tion activities using the Parents as Teachers® curriculum. We educate you on newborn care, breast and bottle feeding, safe sleep, nutrition, toilet training, self care, and even relaxation techniques.

• Monthly “Group Connections” is the new word for playgroups. This a good opportunity to connect with other parents, discuss parenting topics, and engage in fun activities with your child

• Developmental screenings are offered to monitor hearing, vision, language, motor, intellectual, and social emotional development.

• Connect you with resources that will help you meet your family's needs

Why Should I participate in Parents As Teachers?

• Babies are born to learn. In their earliest years, children learn more and at a much faster pace than at any other time in their lives. Parents need to know how to make the most of these crucial early-learning years.

• The program is voluntary and services are provided free of charge!!

• We serve families in the Tulsa County both English and Spanish throughout pregnancy until their child enters kindergarten. This page provides families with information about the Parents As Teachers program, recruit families who are interested, share resources and helpful parenting tips.

Reaching milestones in skills like taking a first step, smiling for the first time, and waving "bye bye" are important signs of a child's development. Children achieve milestones in how they play, learn, speak, act, and move. If you want to ensure that your little one is reaching their milestones, the CDC's milestones and parent tips have been updated with new checklist ages for 15 and 30 months. https://bit.ly/4f4OzSD

At Parents As Teachers, we celebrate Juneteenth as a day to honor the strength, perseverance, and hope of Black families throughout history. It is a day to reflect on how far we've come while recognizing that there is still work to be done to ensure true equity and justice for all children and families.

Freedom and family are inextricably linked. On Juneteenth, we recommit ourselves to empowering every parent, caregiver, and child through access to quality early childhood education, resources, and support. We strive to build a world where all families can nurture their children's curiosity, unlock their potential, and pave the way for the next generation to thrive.

Join us in celebrating the resilience of the human spirit and the unbreakable family bonds.

Today marks a major milestone for my client, Kaye Deshonna HenryJames Vaughn. I had the privilege of nominating her for the Oklahoma Parent Leadership Award at the State Capitol. Remarkably, she was one of the few awardees who previously participated in the Parents as Teachers program. Witnessing her growth as her Parent Educator has been truly inspiring. Her husband, Andrew Vaughn, has also been an incredible support, warmly welcoming me into their home. I am so proud to be part of Kaye's parenting journey and wish her continued success as she dedicates herself to serving others. Congratulations on your award!
