We are incredibly proud to celebrate Emily Garza, who earned a Top 10 finish in the 2026 America 250 Speech Contest, sponsored by the Florida Debate Initiative! 🇺🇸🎤

Emily competed with her speech on the topic, “What do you love most about America — and why does it make you proud?” Her hard work, creativity, and dedication truly stood out, earning her recognition as a Top 10 finalist among students in grades 6–7.

This accomplishment is a wonderful reflection of Emily’s communication skills, confidence, and commitment to sharing her voice on an important topic. 🗣️⭐

Emily, we are so proud of you! Your voice matters, and this is just the beginning of what you can accomplish. Keep speaking, keep growing, and keep shining! 💙💛

Congratulations on this well-deserved achievement, Emily! 🎉

🇺🇸💙Today, in their history classes, our students observed 9/11 Heroes’ Day by learning about September 11, 2001, and honoring the heroes who demonstrated extraordinary courage, compassion, and selflessness in the face of tragedy. As we remember the lives lost, we also honor the first responders, service members, and everyday Americans who stepped forward to help others. May we never forget their bravery, sacrifice, and the spirit of unity that brought our nation together.

💙 Yesterday, our teachers participated in a peer-led AVID training run by Mrs. Massie, Mr. Peterson, and Mrs. Leonard! Our teachers walked away with valuable new strategies, including an engaging activity they can bring directly into their classrooms to get students thinking, collaborating, and actively involved in their learning. We’re excited to see these strategies in action at OMS! 💙
