Mrs. Wheeler's second grade class listened to The Little Red Hen story in the Fall, and planted wheat seeds in the school garden. They've been growing all year. Today, we harvested the wheat, separated seeds from chaff, ground the seeds into flour, made dough and rolled tortillas. Miss Greta cooked our tortillas on her camp grill in the garden. Then we got to eat them. Yum! A bonus was harvesting and eating mulberries from the garden.

Happy Principal Appreciation Day to our beloved Mrs. Abeloe. She joined our sweet school in August and if you can believe it made our campus even sweeter. Thank you for being so loving, kind, smart, creative, funny and the perfect addition to our tribe!! We appreciate you soooo much!!!
Art was made by every single one of our cubs 🫶

Thank you Ojai Valley Woman's Club and Federation of Women's Club for the thoughtful goodie bags delivered to our staff today. The time and effort you all put into making these is incredible and we are forever grateful.
Norman Foote, a Canadian musician, songwriter, and comedian who has been nominated for four Juno Awards for Best Children’s Album spent the morning with our youngest cubs singing and writing music. This was such a special treat our wonderful Meiners Oaks Ptsa gifted our kiddos.
Our students, staff and parents had so much fun performing all the songs they learned and wrote.
🙌🏻🙌🏻 THANK YOU 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Annnnnnd their off. Our 5th grade cubs are headed to Catalina for a few days of exploring, adventuring and expanding their minds.
Thank you Meiners Oaks Ptsa for helping our kiddos experience such a memorable trip.
Robert Castillo's BMX Freestyle Team visited our campus for the third time with a positive student message and radical tricks. Mrs. Abeloe even braved herself to be a part of the show. The kiddos thought that was sooooo cool!!! Thank you parents and Meiners Oaks Ptsa for making this happen.
Happy Birthday Mrs. Abeloe!!!! (it was yesterday) She was off campus at a training so we took full advantage of decorating her office to the max. It was so fun to have all our cubs write lovely notes, make wonderful posters and share the love we all have for her.
Today she will be showered with delicious homemade treats made by our fantastic families. What a celebration to be had!
Thank you Mrs. Abelow for loving our school and being the best leader we could have ever asked for.

Every year for the past nine years Mr. Mendoza has been playing the bagpipes at our school in celebration of the Irish holiday, St. Patrick's Day. He wears the traditional uniform of a Scottish piper which includes a kilt.
More than 150 years ago the Irish and Scottish immigrated to America. Once here, these immigrants often took what were low paying, dangerous jobs like coal miners, firefighters, and policer officers.
One of the traditions these immigrants brought with them was playing the Great Highland bagpipes at weddings, dances, funerals and parties. That is why today, bagpipers are associated with fire and police departments.
Today marks the end of an era for this tradition at Meiners Oaks Elementary. We have been so honored to have this special treat year after year. Thank you Aimee and Dave for your time and dedication to our cubs.

Learning nutrition and math all in one. Our lovely Preschool teacher built a fruit stand in her classroom for our littlest cubs. They are learning about each fruit and vegetable as well as how/where we buy these amazing foods. They have loved running their own TK fruit stand.
