Teamwork makes the dream work! 🧠🔥 This week Mrs. Moroney's 4th graders put their heads together and leveled up their place value skills—all the way to the hundred millions! We turned practice into friendly competition with math games that had everyone thinking hard, working together, and cheering each other on!

Mrs. McGuire’s math classes (grades 5-8) kicked off the year with challenges to help improve Growth Mindset, learning from mistakes, and most importantly, understanding that “we can do hard things" (and maybe just have fun doing it)! 👏🧠

🪱🚤 7th Grade STEM Challenge: Saving Sam! 🛟

Sam the worm had a BIG problem… he capsized his boat! 😱🌊 His life preserver was nearby, but Sam needed some help getting it back on.

Our 7th graders were challenged to save Sam using only paper clips! Students had to work together, communicate, think creatively, and carefully maneuver the paper clips to get Sam’s life preserver back where it belonged—without touching Sam directly.

This challenge put their teamwork, problem-solving, communication, and perseverance to the test! It was great to see our students working together and thinking outside the box to save Sam! 🧠🤝🛟

Way to go, 7th grade STEM teams! 👏

🐦 6th Grade STEM Challenge: Help Harry! 🔬🌎

Our 6th graders took on the challenge of Help Harry! Each team was given a tiny pom-pom with eyes—meet Harry! 👀—and a collection of materials to design and build a perch for him.

The goal? Create a sturdy perch where Harry could sit comfortably and listen in while we learned about our Earth Science topics! 🌎🪨🌋

Students used teamwork, creativity, problem-solving, and engineering skills to design, build, test, and improve their creations. It was a fun way to kick off our Earth Science learning!

Great job, 6th grade engineers! 👏💡🐦

🤖 5th Grade Challenge: The Wild Robot! 🌿

Our 5th graders put their creativity, engineering, and problem-solving skills to work with a challenge inspired by The Wild Robot! Students worked to design and create a robot with one prosthetic leg, following specific criteria to meet the challenge.

From brainstorming and designing to building and testing, students had to think critically, collaborate, and make adjustments along the way. It was wonderful to see their creativity and perseverance in action! 💡🔧

🏗️ 8th Grade Tower Challenge! 🏗️

Our students put their teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills to the test! Working in teams, they competed to build the tallest free-standing tower using limited supplies.

📄 Challenge 1: 2 sheets of paper + 36 inches of tape
🧹 Challenge 2: 15 pipe cleaners

It was amazing to see the creative designs, collaboration, and perseverance as students tested their ideas and learned from each challenge! 👏💡
