Yesterday, the faculty of the Department of World Languages & Cultures gathered to wish a fond farewell to Dr. Joscha Klueppel as he begins an exciting new chapter as Visiting Assistant Professor of German at the College of Charleston in South Carolina.

Over the past three years, Joscha has made a lasting impact on our department and the Film Studies program through his outstanding teaching, dedication to students, and collegiality. He will be greatly missed, but we know the College of Charleston is fortunate to have him.

Please join us in wishing Joscha all the best on this new adventure!

Two of our students of Chinese, Ethan Ashby and Noah Hadley, competed in the SLC Preliminary Competition of the "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Students, in the higher education category. Zhang Nan, visiting scholar of Chinese in our department, served as one of the judges. Ethan, who is also one of our Chinese tutors, earned a well-deserved Third Place. Both Ethan and Noah plan to return to the competition next year. Congratulations, Ethan, and well done to both of you! 恭喜!
