Meet Crossroads: Nik Chertudi

Nik has been a therapist since 2002 and has been part of the Crossroads Academy team for the past nine years. With more than 24 years of experience, he specializes in anxiety disorders, trauma, social anxiety, panic attacks, ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder, and family systems.

Nik’s approach focuses on looking beyond behavior to understand what may be driving it. He helps teens and their families identify underlying challenges, strengthen communication, and build healthier relationships.

Before Crossroads, Nik spent more than 10 years working with young adults experiencing both substance use and mental health disorders, giving him extensive experience understanding the connection between mental health and substance use.

Nik and his wife, Melissa, have been married for 28 years and have three children: Andrew, Savanna, and Claire. Outside of work, he enjoys boating, camping, skiing, longboarding, Japanese koi, and bonsai. He’s also a lifelong martial artist with five black belts and experience teaching martial arts to youth.

One thing recreation gives our boys is a safe place to struggle.

Try. Fall. Figure out what went wrong. Get back up and try again. Learning how to fail without giving up is an important skill for life.

Meet Crossroads: Noah Lattin

Noah first began working with Crossroads as part of his undergraduate practicum at Weber State University as a direct-care staff. He quickly realized that Crossroads had something unique in their approach to individual and family therapy and wanted to be a part of that in the future.

Upon completing his bachelor’s degree in social work at Weber State University, Noah immediately began pursuing a master’s degree in clinical social work at Boise State University. During his time at Boise State, he completed his graduate degree practicum at a wilderness therapy program in Utah.

Noah takes an eclectic approach with students and their families to improve communication skills, set healthy boundaries, and resolve past traumas. Noah works well with clients who struggle with ADHD, anxiety, depression and other mood disorders, autism-spectrum disorder, and trauma. Noah enjoys everything about the outdoors and realizes the powerful metaphors for change that can be found in nature. He utilizes outdoor experiences in therapy to build his students’ self-efficacy and create a new narrative that isn’t dependent on old and often unhealthy patterns for dealing with the challenges of their lives.

Outside of working at Crossroads, Noah enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. He understands the importance of healthy connections with the people we care about and works every day to model healthy relationships for and with the students at Crossroads Academy. He enjoys a wide range of outdoor activities that vary all the way from pickleball to ice climbing. Noah routinely participates in adventures that fall under the “type 2” category of fun, such as endurance mountain biking events like the “Park City Point 2 Point” and “Eden Epic.” He believes that setting goals that force us beyond our comfort levels are typically the ones that provide the most meaning in our lives and promote the most growth as a person.

This week, a few of our golf-loving students had the chance to attend the Korn Ferry Tour while it was in Ogden. Watching talented players compete for a chance to earn their PGA Tour card gave the boys a firsthand look at the dedication, discipline, and consistency it takes to perform at a high level. ⛳️

This week, our boys enjoyed harvesting some of what they’ve been growing together, it’s super satisfying eating the food you garden.

Research has found that gardening can improve mood, reduce stress, increased physical activity, and strengthen a persons sense of purpose and connection to others. 🪏 🌱 🍅

Meet Crossroads: Whitney Howey

Dr. Whitney Howey earned her Doctoral degree in Social Work from the University of Utah in May 2025 and has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) since 2017. She has worked with children, youth, and families since 2013, with a focus on adolescents and family systems beginning in 2016.

Dr. Howey is deeply committed to building strong therapeutic relationships, believing that meaningful change begins with trust, rapport, and genuine connection. Her clinical approach is relational and strengths-based, meeting youth where they are, fostering emotional insight, and partnering with families to support lasting growth and progress.

Outside of her work with youth and families, Dr. Howey enjoys the energetic pace of life with her husband and two daughters, who keep her busy with competitive basketball and soccer.

It’s not always fun and adventure - but it is always intentional and meaningful. The boys spent the afternoon serving lunch at a local food kitchen, and cleaned up afterwards.

Adolescents who volunteer are more likely to flourish, less likely to experience anxiety, and less likely to struggle with behavioral challenges.

At Crossroads, we believe that learning to have fun in recovery is just as important as the work we do in the classroom and therapy sessions.

Today’s classroom was paintball! Activities like this show our boys that you don’t need anything artificial to get an adrenaline rush.

Proud of the teamwork and sportsmanship on display today. 💪 🎯
