๐Ÿ˜” Tracy Hall has been feeling a little lonely this summer...

The halls are quieter. The labs are emptier. And while we're happy you're enjoying a well-deserved break, the truth isโ€”we miss you.

We miss the questions, the discoveries, the study sessions, and the energy you bring to the College of Science every day.

Enjoy the rest of your summer, Wildcats. We can't wait to see you!๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ”ฌ

A live look at the person who understands numbers, posted by people who clearly do not. ๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ“Š

Plot twist: We didnโ€™t actually forget Alees Lee the other dayโ€” she was just in a state of quantum superposition until you observed this post. ๐ŸŒŒ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธMassive, fully visible congratulations for OUTSTANDING WEBER SERVICE ๐Ÿ†โœจ

Thanks for keeping us grounded in actual logic, Professor! Sorry for our collective rounding error. ๐Ÿงฎ๐Ÿ™

๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸฆŒ We just wrapped up our second trip to our Yellowstone Field Station to scope out the landscape โ€” and every visit reveals something new.

Our cameras once again caught quiet visitors moving through the site, including deer wandering across the landscape that WSU students will soon study yearโ€‘round. ๐ŸฆŒโœจ

And the rest of the photos tell the story just as clearly โ€”
๐ŸŒฟ faculty exploring the terrain and assessing the future field station site
๐ŸŒฒ wide, open meadows and dense areas of trees
๐ŸŒ„ sweeping views that show the scale and potential of the area
๐Ÿ“ธ a place where every direction looks like a research opportunity

This is what a permanent field station makes possible:
๐Ÿ”ฌ real research
๐ŸŒฑ real discovery
๐Ÿ“š real moments you canโ€™t find in a classroom

From highโ€‘alpine forests to geothermal basins, this region is a natural laboratory โ€” and soon, WSU students will have a base camp inside it. ๐ŸŒ‹๐ŸŒฒ

The wild is already speaking.
Weโ€™re getting ready to listen. ๐Ÿ‘‚๐ŸŒŽ

๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ† Congratulations to our 2026 BSA Young Botanists Award recipient: Katelyn Ouzts!

What started as an interest in lichens grew into opportunities for research, scientific presentations, mentoring fellow students, and preparing a manuscript for publication. Their journey is a testament to the impact of curiosity, hard work, and the support of a strong academic community.

๐Ÿ’ฌ A piece of advice they share with other students:

"Follow the things that genuinely make you curious, even if you are not exactly sure where they will lead. Donโ€™t wait until you feel qualified to try something, jump into opportunities, you will figure things out as you go, and allow yourself to grow through the process."

Looking toward the future, they hope to attend graduate school and continue studying how environmental stressors affect lichens and fungi while contributing to research, education, and community involvement that helps protect and care for the natural world.

Join us in celebrating this outstanding achievement! ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ’š
