I'm sad to report the passing of another Ogden High Class of 1963 alumni, Margie Montoya Hensel. We can remember her as one the fine "Tiger" Ladies, a friendly, cheerful and classy gal from of our class of 1963.
MARGIE'S OBITUARY
Margie Ann Hensel (Montoya), age 76, loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend gained her heavenly wings Monday, February 14, 2022, in Austin, Texas with her children by her side.
Margie was born in Ogden, Utah, on May 2nd, 1945, to her late parents Jose Celestino Montoya and Pearl Eva Montoya (Spencer).
After graduating from Ogden High School in 1963, Margie began her journey into motherhood. Having three children formed her purpose and defined her heart. She spent her early years being a loving mother, camping in the mountains, spending time with family, attending sporting events that her children participated in, and being involved with the production of large music festivals.
When her children were grown, she began building her career of traveling throughout the United States as an event coordinator. Margie spent her years gainfully employed and retired as a Senior Event Logistics Manager for IBM. In her free time, she loved golfing, exercising, and relaxing poolside to great music with dear friends.
In her later years, she enjoyed reading, crafting, gardening, cooking, sewing, traveling, spending quality time with family, and taking pride in her grandchildren. Margie had friendships that stood the test of time, through all life’s ups and downs, the kind that became family over the years.
Margie was a fun, loving, God-fearing woman who was adored by all those who knew her. She often reminded those she loved to dream big, like you’ll live forever, but to live each day as though it’s your last.
Margie is survived by her children, Criss Johnston (Kim), Nichol Tindol (Ray), Michael Murdock (LaRhonda); her loving grandchildren, Brook, Caleb, Logan, and Ayden; her brothers, Rufino “Murph” Montoya, Louis Montoya, Robert “Bobby” Montoya; step-sister, Vicki White; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Celestino Montoya and Pearl Eva Montoya (Spencer); brothers, David Montoya, Peter Montoya, Max Montoya, Richard Montoya; sister, Juanita Montoya and nephew, Spencer Montoya.
Intimate family services will be held at a future date, under the direction of Beck Funeral Home.
Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guestbook at beckchapels.com
In lieu of flowers, please share your favorite memory of Margie over a meal with someone special. Time with someone you love is the best way to honor her life.
