I worked all summer putting together a training for our Association Building Leaders (ABLs). It was a labor of love mixed with a lot of stress. The training was today and I think it went well. Almost everyone was there and those that weren’t let me know ahead of time that they couldn’t make it. All the technology worked, we had plenty of food (remind me of that next year), and we had some really good conversations. I’m so honored to get to be in this leadership position, and work with such amazing people. But I’m not going to lie, it gets heavy sometimes and that came through today. What a great group of people to let me get vulnerable and talk/cry about it and not make it weird. I felt very supported and safe and I hope they do too. ❤️

Thank you to all of the ABLs and all of the Board members for supporting me as a President as well as putting in the work to make our union stronger.

All for one and one for all ❤️

Be sure to find your building rep this week and thank them for coming to a training, outside of contract time, to learn how to get you all of the union information. The union wouldn’t function without our ABLs.

Your Association Building Leaders (ABLs) will be gathering together on Monday August 17th at Mountain View Jr. High in the Library to go over the beginning of year information. If you have questions, make sure to contact your ABL so that they can ask them at the training.

We are still looking for a building leader at Washington Terrace Elementary and Majestic Elementary. If you work there and are interested in being the Association Building Leader, we would love to have you! Please reach out to us at [email protected] Those schools will miss out on vital information if we don't find a building leader.

After 6 days of putting in the work in Denver, your Ogden/Weber RA Delegates are on their way home.

What questions do you have about the National Education Association Representative Assembly? We’d love to answer them!

We believe in the democratic process. That’s why we’re proud to represent educators from our UniServ and across our state at the NEA Representative Assembly.

Yesterday, a local anti-public education group shared posts from the Representative Assembly without providing the full context. The Representative Assembly is NEA’s legislative body, where educators from across the country—and from all points on the political spectrum—can introduce new business items for delegates to debate and vote on. Introducing an item does not mean it will be adopted. In fact, the item highlighted in those posts was defeated by the delegates.

As elected representatives, we take this responsibility seriously. We thoughtfully consider the perspectives of the members we represent before casting our individual votes, and we carefully weigh the impact every decision could have on our students, schools, public schools, and communities.

If you see these posts being shared, we encourage you to help correct the misinformation by providing the full context and sharing the facts. Healthy democracy depends on informed conversations, and we’re proud to participate in a process where every proposal is debated, every voice can be heard, and every delegate is accountable to the educators they represent.
