The iJAG students are launching a new project to spread some positivity throughout Oelwein, and we’d love your support! ✨
A group of students in 9th/10th grade have started the Kindness Rock Project in our class. Our students have been busy decorating rocks with uplifting messages and bright designs. Over the next few days, you’ll start seeing these hidden around town—in parks, near our schools and shop entrances, and along sidewalks.
How it works:
Find a rock: If you see one, we hope it makes you smile!
Share the love: Take a photo of the rock and post it to social media using our hashtag .
Keep it moving: Place the rock back somewhere in the community for the next person to find.

Our goal is to create a “ripple effect” of kindness across Oelwein. If you see one of our rocks, please join in!

We had the opportunity to share more about the Iowa Jobs for America’s Graduates program at Oelwein High School with the Oelwein Rotary Club yesterday! The continued support from our community is what helps this program thrive, and we are so grateful for it!! ✨

Thank you to Heather Kral for joining us yesterday to discuss Oelwein’s School program, iJAG, which is part of lowa Jobs for America's Graduates, a statewide initiative partnering with Oelwein Community Schools, providing Oelwein High School students with career development, leadership training, and real-world skills. This class is an elective that helps to prepare students for life after graduation through hands-on projects, employer engagement, and personalized guidance.

Huge thank you to Mallory Hanson from Fayette County Tourism & Development for visiting our iJAG classroom and spending time with our students!

Mallory shared insight into careers in tourism, community development, and how promoting local places can create real economic impact. It was a great opportunity for students to see how creativity, communication, and community pride come together in meaningful career paths.

From organizing the drive to delivering donations-our Oelwein iJAG students led every step of the Winter Warmth Drive ✨
This week, they delivered kids’ winter gear to Wings Park Elementary, helping make sure students are warm and ready for winter.❄️

A huge thank you to Brandon Batterson, Senior Animator for Visual Concepts | 2K Games, and Amanda Plathe, Clinic Manager for Avera Health, for sharing their career journeys, the paths that led them there, and the real-world insights that inspired our students to think big about what’s possible after high school.

Hearing firsthand how Huskies turn passions into careers makes a powerful impact- and reminds our students that success can start right here in Oelwein.

So grateful for our community 💜💛

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who donated winter coats, hats, gloves, and scarves to our Winter Warmth Drive. Our iJAG students proudly hosted this drive, and because of your generosity, these items will be available all winter long for students in need at the Husky Closet, located in the iJAG classroom.

And the impact doesn’t stop there- our students are delivering kids’ winter gear to the elementary school tomorrow, helping make sure even more Huskies stay warm this season.
