You guys!! I just (solo) dewormed 3 of my 4 horses by slipping halters on them & not even attaching lead ropes or putting them on cross ties or anything! And for the final one of them, I tried without putting a halter on him at all; he just stood next to me & was like “Okay, Mom, if you say so!” 🤣 And AND!!! I managed to not get a drop on me. None in my hair, or on my shirt, or in my eye (some horses tend to “share” their dewormer with you lol.) I don’t know if I’ve ever done a deworming so smoothly & cleanly as this with no hissy fits or mess.

For my non-horsey friends, this is like the equivalent of me parallel parking a car on my first attempt (or at all 😅)

Pictured: Luigi, the slaughter-bound Paso Fino who is turning out to be such a nice little dude. It used to be almost impossible to catch him a few months ago, but now he’s coming around so much better. He let me halter him right away today & took his dewormer with no fuss. Plus he’s so darn cute

Peaceful farm morning in the fog. 🌫️ Our Son of Spun (JC Bibliotecario) is enjoying grazing in one of our two new paddocks, while the rest of his herd jealously looks on. Don’t worry, they’ll be joining him shortly!

Nap time! Volume up for purrs. 🥰 Orphan kitten Bagheera sure loves to cuddle with XL Bully Huckleberry. Anyone have a place in their home & heart for a mischievous & sweet kitten? Bagheera & his littermates will be available for adoption soon! If you’ve been thinking of adding a kitten to your family, THIS is the litter! They’ve been bottle fed since they were around 10 days old so they are very people-oriented & total lap cats. We have males & females - healthy, up to date on everything, litter box trained, & ready to start cuddling with you instead of a giant Pitbull. Indoor homes preferred!

The excitement never stops around the farm! Two weeks ago, a good friend of ours lost her mama cat. Her approx 10 day old kittens were in dire need. I’ve never bottle fed kittens before, but I was willing to try anything to help the little things. They were very dehydrated & exhausted after being without their mom for several days. I was worried they might not make it (most kittens will die after that many hours away from their mama cat), but they are little fighters! 💪

Everyone, please help me welcome Ivy, Bagheera, Cammy, Snowball, & Mouse. My little fosters for the next few weeks until they’re big enough to go back to their family. 🥹

This was the day they arrived here (May 13). They are tiny tiny tiny! Only a few ounces each.

✨Transformation time✨ It has been exactly 3 months since Luigi arrived at our farm. The Paso Fino gelding was one or two days away from taking the long trailer ride to Mexico to be slaughtered, awaiting his fate at a Tennessee holding pen. Hoping someone, anyone, would bail him out.

We did. We named him Luigi. 💚

The little horse who stepped off the trailer after the 6 hour ride was VERY skiddish about everything, super hard to catch, flinched anytime you reached for him, & needed some serious weight added to his skinny frame. We have taken our time getting him adjusted to his new life. Our horses have done an excellent job of welcoming him to the herd. He is coming around more & more. A few days ago, he even walked right up to me to let me put his halter on him. 🥰

We can’t wait to see how Luigi continues to thrive here. Let’s hear it from our Paso Fino fans in the comments below. He’s our first ever Paso, so we have a lot to learn about this unique little breed.

Our paddock upgrade project is done! ✅ 9 acres for the boys to enjoy, & we are now set up to be able to rotate paddocks to keep the grass healthier. Our fields were planted in corn & soybeans for years, & we just transitioned them to pasture last spring. Because of the fast turnaround, there were lots of weeds & even some burrs to deal with. We are so excited that we will have healthy, lush pastures growing in now!

Big day at the farm! We absolutely love Chris at AgLime Lawn & Land Services!
