We’re proud to share that the WestGate@Crane Summer Intern Program received the 2026 Talent Innovation Award!

Purdue@WestGate/WestGate Academy’s Samantha Nelson and Shaylee Blondeel attended Regional Opportunity Initiatives’ Annual Report to the Region on October 2 at French Lick Resort to accept the award on behalf of the program.

This award recognizes innovative efforts to strengthen the Indiana Uplands workforce through training, skill advancement, and talent attraction. In its third year, our Summer Intern Program Series brought together interns from NSWC Crane and defense contractors located in WestGate@Crane Technology Park for professional development, networking, and connections with regional industry leaders.

Thank you to ROI for this honor and to the employers, speakers, and partners who helped make the series a success. We’re proud to help the next generation discover the opportunities the Indiana Uplands has to offer!

The next generation of defense technology is taking shape right here at WestGate@Crane 📍

On Monday, leaders from government, the military, and industry gathered at WestGate Academy for Kratos Defense & Security Solutions’ HELIOS and AN/SPY-1 Facility Growth and Groundbreaking Celebration.

One message resonated throughout the event: progress on this scale is made possible through partnership. Collaboration across the public and private sectors continues to strengthen the region’s defense ecosystem and create new opportunities to support NSWC Crane and the nation’s warfighters.

Kratos’ continued growth includes Project HELIOS, which will expand hypersonic testing capabilities, and the SPY-1 Radar Integration Complex, which will provide a dedicated space for work that helps keep the Navy’s Aegis SPY-1 radar system mission-ready.

We were honored to host the celebration and join Kratos and its partners in recognizing this exciting milestone!
